Does hyperactive bub in utero = hyperactive kid?

This bub apparently doesn't stop moving. At the NT scan, it was moving so much it took a while to get the right measurements. Last night at our midwife appt, bub was jumping around so much we couldn't get the heartbeat on the doppler for ages. Just as I was starting to really freak out, we caught it then bub jumped away again.

I know babies don't like being exposed to ultrasound, so maybe s/he is just trying to get away from it. DS didn't move as much. That may be as indication of his condition, but the OB thought he was fine at the time, so I don't know if that's it. He may have been a more mellow child.

I have ADD, so now I'm wondering if this is an indication of things to come. I'm now calling bub our ADHD kid (which DH doesn't think is funny). Am I just projecting? I know it's good that bub is moving around. Hey, I just want a healthy child. I'm just wondering if this means we're in for an active/hyperactive child.

I found that DD in utero was most active between 4-5 in the evening, and then again at around 11pm. This continued after she was born. Arsenic hour in our house as a newborn was between 4-5pm, and she was awake and ready to party at around 11pm. It did settle down, but we were amused that it started before she hit the earth.

Jack was super active inside and now is the cruisiest, most chilled out baby I've met. Sure, he jumps and plays, but he's certainly not hyperactive. He also hated the ultrasound!

WHo knows though, he might be saving his energy for when he can walk/run!!!

DD1 partied up a storm inside me. One night she kicked as I was spooning DP and he felt it quite sharply. Even my ob said, "you have a very active baby there." JUST the same when she came out. Never, ever stops but she's a GREAT sleeper, always has been, so it has its ups. We say her philosophy is, "play hard, sleep hard."

DD2 was so quiet in comparison that I went to the ob twice concerned that she wasn't moving. She was fine. Sure enough, she is much less full on though that could be me projecting too as she's only 9 months old. But she is very happy playing on her own compared to DD1 who would just follow me around the house and when she wasn't following me she couldn't be left alone as she'd climb. Found her on the kitchen table before she could walk.

So in my case, it was quite true.

Both of mine moved constantly. I remember being a little worried they were moving too much, lol. But they're not hyperactive so far :) DD2 is particularly cruisy.

I ain't gonna lie to ya Tashybabe, I was feeling strong movements really early on and she NEVER STOPPED MOVING the whole pregnancy. I know that people used to worry about not feeling movements all day or something like that but I would feel movements every 15 minutes. The whole time. And she got more frantic leading up to when she was born - didn't calm down at all. When she was born, almost every midwife said to me "you've got your work cut out for you with that one". :o

And she's a very high energy baby. Doesn't stop moving, into everything, wants things 5 minutes ago.

She's awesome though. :D

So yeah, my experience is high energy in utero, high energy outside utero. LOL

My two never stopped in there, and have never stopped since they got here, but I certainly wouldn't called it hyperactive, just regular high energy kids.

Dd1 was a crazy little mover, and can't sit still even now. Dd2 was a bit quieter and it relates in real life too. Ds was the most chilled and he is happy and goes with the flow. All of them were most active at 4am and it's when they all get upset if they are teething or having trouble sleeping.

My DS1 and DD were both extremely active in-utero and came out that way from day 1 :). But I wouldn't call them hyperactive, just high-energy, active kids!

DS2 was much quieter in-utero and came out much cruiser than the other two.

another one here with a baby that moved alot in utero & hasn't stopped since :lol: i won't call it hyperactive, i call it 'busy'!

similar to you - when i went for my NT scan the dr called him a 'cheeky monkey' because he wouldn't stop moving for the ultrasound. i had GD & had CTG monitoring & i was always on for longer than everyone else because he just wouldn't settle down.

no idea if there's any official correlation though!

Busy is good. My brother says my niece was busy in utero too and she certainly hasn't stopped since :)

My first never stopped and now 11years on she still doesn't stop. I assumed it was normal for all babies to be none stop moving during pregnancy. She does have ADHD.

Then my 2nd and 3rd were super quiet and still are. I had numerous complaints to my ob about lack of fetal movements my whole pregnancy with both of them. Now no2 is still quiet at 4yrs old and no3 is to young to comment. So for me very active bub in utero has equalled hyperactive child.

Yep, DS was on the go lots, when pregnant I went to get him monitored a couple of times cos I'd hadn't felt him for 2 hours, I usually got kicks, punches and rolls every 10 or so minutes. He's still a very kicky little boy with loads of energy (I feel quite sorry for his toys sometimes) :) He's always been alert and interactive. He sleeps pretty well too. No history of ADD in my family. It sounds like you've got a awesome bubba baking away there :)

Moo was a very active baby when I was pregnant :D He gave the technicians a hard time during his scans. I wouldn't call him hyperactive, but he is certainly a busy little boy now! He is on the go all day!

Yep, Milly hardly ever stops unless she's asleep - even when she's almost asleep she'll be waving a hand around or lazily kicking me :lol: She's only 7 1/2 weeks and already she wants to be into everything, included in every conversation... Ooh boy, I'm in for a fun time when she gets mobile, hey? :rofl:

First off, its so great to hear bubby is moving, and lots :)
My DD was VERY active in utero and came out that way too. She loved the water in utero, and still does today :)
My DS whom im expecting currently isn't as active (we were in preterm labour for 8 weeks, maybe that made a difference) but isn't 'quiet' either. I definatly think he won't be a crazy-cat like his big sister!! He does come awake though late at night :/ and im hoping that isn't a sign of him being a night owl.......

Kameron and Ashton we're pretty chilled out kids in Utero and the same applies for them now. Naturally they have their moments.

Lachlan on the other hand was the one that gave me the most strife in Utero and gives me the most strife now LOL.

My Ds was hyperactive from the first time I felt him move ( at 15w 4d) and hasn't stopped since! :lol:
