Advice needed on birth information (calmbirth?)

Hi all

I am 24w pregnant and wanted to start looking into VBAC options. My first birth was an emergency c-section due to footling breech with cord prolaspe (5weeks premmie).

I have a high chance of having a breech birth due to an heart-shapped utereus which means the baby has pretty much no chance to turn after a certain time due to no room and baby spinning is not recommended.

My OBGY said if the baby is head down I can have VBAC which is awesome but I have no idea what to read up on. I really want to do a calmbirth course however can't justify the $$$ due to the high chance of breech this time around.

Is there a DVD/website/book anyone can recommend that might help me? Doesn't have to be calmbirth related. I was also thinking of getting a TENS machine but any suggestions would be most helpful!!!

The calmbirth course can be exxy. The hypnobabies home study course is cheaper and, IMO, more effective. You can order online. The AUD:USD rate is good so now's a good time to buy. They also have a couple of free mp3s you can download to try.

Otherwise, there's a book by juju someone which is quite good. Her technique is more about distraction than hypnosis, but good, active birth techniques. Cant think of any others. I do hypnobabies.

Then there's the old fashioned, scream the place down and punch hubby technique, but that's not so peaceful and probably doesnt help much with pain mgmt :)

i can and do still highly recommend calmbirth, even if you find yourself needing a repeat c-section. calmbirth works on the principle of letting your body produce as much oxytocin (happy love hormone) as possible to help alleviate pain in labour, but also to help create a calm, loving environment that transfers onto your baby. so for example while in theatre you use the same techniques as you would while labouring (touch, breathing, visualisation) and you get the good hormones pumping which bubby takes and helps with you guys having an empowered birth moment and increased success of bonding in those early hours and days.

we used calmbirth for my second birth and it was amazing. i still use the techniques whenever i feel stressed or bubby is stressed, amazing stuff!
