Belly button still bleeding??

Rohan is just over 2 & half weeks & his umbilical stump came off at 5 days.
Its still bleeding? Not a lot but more so over the last couple of days. I did mention it yesterday when he had his check up but the Dr didn't really say much.

I just wonder if its something I should be worried about? Its fresh blood, not yukky stuff. But each nappy change he has a dried blood around his belly button. I clean it each time... I can't really see the "source" though as his belly button seems quite deep & narrow. I tried just now to gently part it so I could see the bottom but I couldn't really see much..

I don't think it would be anything to worry about hun... Maybe try calling the MCHN hotline. I always found them fantastic when there was something worrying me, they were great at putting my mind at ease. Come to think of it, I actually called them when we knocked DS's stump and it bled a little - they told me it was nothing to worry about, but that was a one off for us. Maybe just give them a buzz and have a chat. The other thing I love about them is you don't need to stay on hold for ever, they automatically take your number and call you back once you get to the top of the queue.

the drop in clinic is tomorrow so I mighht try & get along to that. I googled too & found it is normal to bleed a bit for a week or 2 after it comes off. I just don't remember it with the others, but theirs fell off much later.

Ds2 had this, I got it checked out at the gp. He wasn't sure if it was open (granuloma) or not so gave us kenacomb otic ointment to use for a week, which cleared it up. In our case it was just slow to heal.
If it is a granuloma they can cauterise it to close it up
