11 month old.......does not want to sleep anymore!!

My DD has been a wonderful sleeper. 7pm - 6am and 2 x 2 hour day sleep. The last couple of weeks her sleep has gotten worse and worse. At first I thought teething again, but there is nothing new. Then I thought maybe she just wanted to drop one of her day sleeps, so I cut the morning out and just went to put her down in the afternoon. But now she wont sleep at all! As soon as I go to put her in the cot she bursts into hysterical screaming. During the day and all night the last couple of nights she sleeps on and off. As soon as I pick her up the hysterical sreaming stops and she is smiling and happy. She just wants to get up and play!

Any advice would be appreciated?

Around 46 weeks is a really big wonder week for the little ones where their brain does a huge leap in dvelopment and often this can cause disturbed sleep and clinginess...Connor had similar issues and we just perservered and got over the hump eventually....he has gone back to having naps...we do rock him to sleep during the day though and then pop him in his cot which he seems to like....at night he goes straight in the cot no rocking but he seems to like the cuddle time for his day sleeps, it must help him to wind down or something.

Hmmmm we are going through sleep issues with my 10mth old... good to know melbel... Thanks for that... I feel like maybe if I can just get through to 12 months we might settle down...

yep DD just turned 1 and she went through it about a month ago!

Thanks for the replys, good to hear that it seems to be quite normal. My DD is adopted, so when she does do something out of her normal character/routine I wonder is this just standard for her age? or is it because she is adopted?

She is suuuuuuuper clingy yesterday and today to me. So she really does fit with what you said melbel.

Just took her for a walk and got and hour sleep out of her in the pram........woooo hooo!

Yep, DD did that at around 10.5 - 11 months too! I thought that she was dropping day sleeps altogether (OMG!) but she settled down. It was a horrible time for a couple of weeks though but she settled down again. Thank goodness for the Ergo. I carried her a lot around that time.
