Hello,
I've soaked some of DS's stuff in napisan twice now and the stains fade but are still there. They don't wear aprons to protect their clothing as they think it stops them from expressing their creativity. Before I resign to sending him in clothes with paint stains on them I thought I'd ask for some tips. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Thanks
I never have much luck either, maybe napisan? I have clothes just for daycare for this reason.
How does an apron stop a kid expressing their creativity?! :o I put an old t-shirt of DH's over the kids as a smock and it certainly doesn't quash their creativity or painting ability. Anyway, you didn't ask about that! :lol: I think most kinders use an acrylic based paint, i havn't been able to get even the water based ones out of clothes, so i have no hints at all really! All i can suggest is spraying them with a stain remover as soon as he gets home. I find napisan is good for some things but not others and need a stain remover sometimes.....
Could he have a set of 'painting clothes' that he changed into for painting, and then back out of? :dunno:
I'm with the others - daycare only clothes :)
I find that using something like Turps on the stain as soon as he gets home. Before they go through the wash. But that doesn't work on all paint stains.
Oh, and that apron thing is rubbish. Wearing gumboots doesn't quell DSs's desire to jump in puddles.
try nail polish remover & a scrubbing brush. Just sit gently with it & pick & scrub away at with the nail poilish remover. my boys got acrylic pain on the school tops. I got alot of doing it that way. Not all of it but a fair amount. The darker colours.. well they just have to deal with it now, Im not buying new shirts.
I got told that Windex gets paint out of clothes...
Not sure if it needs to be used the first time before washing or if it still works if its an old mark :dunno:
Thanks ladies! I know, it is a very frustrating opinion of theirs. They think that by having to get a child to find the smock and put it on it will be a deterrent. I'd personally prefer the art smock lol. For some reason the other children never have paint on their clothes which makes me feel even worse!!! I will definitely give all of your suggestions a go :)
