My 2yo dd wakes up with freezing cold hands. She wears a winter sleeping bag, bur it's sleeveless, and it's the only one shell wear. It's like her comforter and she can't sleep without it. She moves around so much that she kicks her blanket off, so I don't know What to do to keep her warm. I don't like the idea of having a heater or air con on all night either! Any suggestions?
Both my girls sleep with socks on their hands. As it gets cooler I use thicker socks. DD1 thinks it is great putting socks on her hands. Sometimes she pulls them off but she has not woken up so she may have been to hot with them on. If she is going through a not wanting them on stage I just go in when she is asleep and put them on. They stay on so much better then any mittens I have ever had.
get her a sleepersuit, its long sleeved/legged and thicker..ours is a Tog 2 rating made by snugtime
What about fingerless gloves? I saw some for kids in a shop the other day? Or perhaps just heavier pjs under the bag?
If its just her arms that are getting cold, can you put a jumper on over or under the sleeping bag?
Are they the same as the Blanket sleepers? I had a look at the Snugtime website and could only see Blanket sleepers. They don't give you much detail on the site either. I'm keen to find one for DS :):
Does the cold hands bother her? Or is it just that it worries you?
My kids always sleep in sleeping bags too, and some mornings their hands are cold. I was told categorically by a nurse that it didn't matter - so long as their torso was warm, then they were warm. Not to be too concerned with their extremities.
Have you put a thermometer in DD's room? What does it drop to? I know our house is coldest very first thing in the morning (before i turn the heating on) and my DS1's room is about 16 degrees. Which is cool - but still fine.
Kyson sleeps in a sleeveless sleeping bag like your DD. He wears a pair of winter jimjams on underneath. I also lay a medium blanket over him when he goes to sleep. He sometimes wriggles out from under it before he falls asleep, so I sneak in before I go to bed and make sure it's over him. I doubt it really makes much difference though, but I like to peek in on him one last time before I go to sleep, hehe. We keep the heating on overnight at about 18 degrees though, so it never gets really cold. I think if she was getting too cold though she would certainly wake and let you know :)
