Just for today...

...Before you whinge about an interfering mother, remember that there will be a time when you cannot ask her advice at all.
...Before you get upset because your mother gives your child a piece of cake, remember that it may just be the only time she gets to.
...Before you groan about a mother nagging you never call her often enough, remember that there will come a day you will no longer be able to hear her voice.
...Before you criticise a mother for the choices she made, remember motherhood isn't easy, and you don't know it all either.
...While you love your children today, remember that is how your mum loves you.

I have so many friends who whinge about the most trivial things their mums 'do to them', or a so quick to judge their mums past actions and decisions. And they have no idea how lucky they are just to have someone who cares enough to interfere. Who is even there to offer advice, wanted or not.
One day, she won't be there anymore, and you will understand what it like to know that you would do anything to have just one nagging phone call or criticism about your parenting tactics.

So just for today, love your mum because of all those things that drive you mad. And remember to tell her.

It's so true Lime. I'm sorry your mum can't be with you today. I don't know where I'd be right now without my mum's support. And I tell her all the time how much I appreciate it and her.

hugs to you. DH lost his mum a year ago, im so glad to have had her in our lives and id give anything to have har back, trying to give DD chocolate. i whinge about my own mum to often and your so right....i shouldnt!! thanks. hugs.

this is the one i wish i never used to complain about with my Oma (but similar in a way as she raised me for the large part of my life). I would give anything for even a few seconds of hearing her beautiful voice at the other end of the line. I am missing her so much, my first mothers day without her and it sucks.

I think the hardest thing for me ATM is knowing that I'll never get to hear her say my name in her way. it's hard to explain but hearing her call my name is the hardest one to let go of.

Grandmothers shopping with their daughters and their babies still get to me. I don't know how much time has to pass before it feels better. There always seems to be a level of sadness and missing there. Last Mother's Day I had a dream where I got to give my Mum a hug and for a moment I was able to breathe out and be thankful she was with me again and I even said "Thank God you are back, it is so horrible when you are dead". And then you wake up again.

There are just so many feelings about what you are missing, what your kids are missing and while not wishing it on anyone else being slightly jealous everyone else seems to have their Mum in the motherhood phase of their life and you don't. Don't have any wisdom to make it any better, just know I am there with you today too :hug:

I am really sorry your mum isn't here to nag you today and spoil your little ones rotten.

I can't even imagine how painful it must be for you and others who have lost their mums too early.

Thank you for your timely reminder that, just like us, our mums make/ have made mistakes but they are usually doing the best they can. After all, mums are human too. It's the love they feel for us that is superhuman and that love transcends everything. Even when they are no longer physically with us, a mother's love remains. And, not sure what your beliefs are, but you can probably bet that your mum, along with every other mum no longer earthside, is nagging - and loving their babies - from above :)

My nan used to say all this to me as a teen with issues ;)
Now Im a mother I totally get it....

You've made me cry, We have only just found out my Nanna has cancer, I really hope its not her last mothers day...

Oh thanks for the reminder - so lovely (I am teary now).
I have been thinking about my nanna a lot today. For some reason, I am really missing her this year. She died nearly 10 years ago. I wish she had met my kids.
