What does your toddler wear in bed?

Hi all,

I'm interested to know what other parents dress their toddlers in for bed at this cold time of the year. My 2 1/2 year old DD wears a singlet, long sleeve top and PJs over the top and I worry that she gets cold overnight because I always find her outside of her covers. :wall: She has been waking around 5ish which is unusual for her and I'm thinking she might be cold. I don't want to put her in a sleeping bag. I know there are body suit ones that are thick and warm but I was hoping she'd get used to her covers. Anyway, just interested in what others do.

Hi- my 15mo DD wears:
Long sleeved, no legs onsie
Flannelette pj's
Sleep suit with feet.
And I leave my ducted heating set to 18 all night.

She wakes up at 6am on the dot.

My 2 1/2 yr old wears a singlet and flannelette pjs to bed. But in saying that she tends to get too hot in anything else and sleeps under the covers.

DD wears a short sleeved onsie (with no legs) them a pair of leggings, a long sleeved pj top and a pair of socks. She sleeps so bad if she is in anything with feet in it and she hates having the covers on. I am slowly adding more layers as it starts to get colder and was looking at some merino sleep suits the other day for when it starts getting chilly.

She is a hot one as well, always sweaty when I need a blanket!

All of mine sleep with singlet and flanno's.

DS has fleecy long pjs, socks and a sleeveless sleeping bag. He usually stays at least partly under the covers. We also have ducted heating but it doesn't go all night, it boosts a couple of times overnight.

It gets REALLY cold here, like snowing cold so we will probably add another layer (singlet) and possibly a heavier bag on top as we get into June/July.

DS wears pyjamas - but has a 4-tog duvet and, if he needs it, an extra fleece blanket.

DS1 wears either flannellete PJs OR an all in 1 fleece suit with feet. He is put back under doona before I go to bed each night and can often wake because cold if in PJ's.

DS2 wears same but if in pj's he has a grobag as well. Not good at staying covered and gets out of grobag!

DD usually wears flannie or trackie style pjs. I also put her under a doona and have a blanket on top, but she is a restless sleeper and usually works her way out of the covers. Have just started using sleeping bags again, to help combat this as the mornings are getting really cold. Thinking I will have to rug her up more and see how that goes.

DS1 wears a singlet and pj's with socks to bed. He used to get from under his doona until his nanna came up with a brilliant idea. She put his doona sideways on his bed and tucked both sides firmly under the mattress; since doing this he hasn't kicked his doona off and is nice and warm every morning! HTH

My two often only wear a tshirt and undies/nappy, but they are pretty good at covers having never tolerated sleeping bags and I live in a pretty different climate to most of you. Even though it's down to 5-8 at night, the days are warm enough to heat the house and it stays at around 18 of a night time.

Meercat - DD does get too hot I think and I think that's why she gets out of her covers. But the problem is then in the morning she's freezing and is waking up.

Esme - That's what I do with DD's covers, but my DD manoeuvres herself totally out of the covers so that she's lying sideways across the bed right up the top. :wall:

I might have to think about using sleeping bags again or get one of those body suit type ones to keep her warm in the mornings but then she might be too hot when she first goes to bed. :Wall:

Moi - X wears tracky-style or flanney pj's to bed, now it's getting colder I'm sometimes adding socks & singlet. His bedding is a single doona (no top sheet). We usually have to pull the covers over him before we go to bed, as he's generally uncovered at that time (except the night we found he'd tucked himself in under his pillow :rofl:). I've also occasionally found he has actually pulled the doona over himself... i.e. it was notably different to how we'd put him to bed. He doesn't seem to wake up cold and I wonder if he needs to pull it up during the night - he seems to manage tho. We also leave the heater so the temp in the house is set to about 17-18. Sounds like an all-in-one with feet might be a goer. Good luck!
