Is 32 weeks too early for baby shower??

Hi everyone,

Firstly, not sure if posting I'm the right spot-sorry Mods, please move if not :)

I am trying to lock in a date for my baby shower. This is the first grandchild on both sides & the first baby in one group of friends so everyone is asking me when I'll have my shower.

I wasn't going to but have decided to just do a Sunday afternoon tea at Mums.

Anyway, my best friend and my MIL are both away over all of July and it's important for me that they're there.

We are due on the third Sunday I'm August so I don't really want to wait till August to have it.

I was thinking the last weekend in June? I will be 32 weeks.

Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this? Too early? Or ok?

Sounds fine to me ;) I'm also pregnant with the first Grandchild due in October, and I'm thinking July or August for mine which will be between 23 weeks and 29 weeks. I dont know if there are any rules relating to how soon your supposed to have a baby shower? First timer here :D

I would definately have it when the people you want there, are in town makes it all the more special :) I would do the same thing.

Edit: Just finalised the date 13th of August so 30 weeks here :)

There are no rules hun. You have it when it suits you. When I was having DD three lots of family members wanted to host their own (and I fair dinkum hate those things), so I had to schedule 3 in lol. I think I started about then too.

I had mine at 32 weeks - a Sunday afternoon tea.
One of my best friends is moving OS next week :( and I really wanted her to be there. Was glad I had it when I did as I had around 30 guests and the whole day was extremely tiring (physically, mentally and emotionally!). Better to have it when you can cope I think.

I just had my 19 week scan and am all excited to start looking at booking in a baby shower.
I am keen to hear what others say, but tend to agree with Kim, do what suits you. :)

I had mine around then and it was perfect. I was pretty big and uncomfy (not to mention exhausted!) so it worked really well for me. Like one of the other girls said, I loved my day but found it very draining in so many ways.

I've had a few friends hospitalised early (and one delivered at 32 weeks) and therefore missed their baby showers altogether!

I was 36 weeks and so big and uncomfortable - if I had my time again I would have done it earlier so 32 wseeks sounds pefect!

I had one at 22wks, one at 27 and one at 30. (work, home town and local) They were all good for me - 22 weeks seemed a bit silly, but it was shared with someone else.

I never had a baby shower. I was stuck in Melbourne from 31 weeks and had a planned c/s at 34 weeks. So 32 week, for a normal pregnancy, I think is perfect.
Not too close to your due date, because bub could come early.

I had mine at 32 weeks, to the day :) It was fantastic, it was at my place but friends organised the entire thing, I didn't have to lift a finger! The belly was big enough for everyone to have fun with it (lol there were loads of pics taken) but not so big that I was uncomfortable.

Even so, the day still exhausted me. I reckon any later, or if I did it all myself, I would've been passed out half way through lol
