I was reminded this morning that I better start taking these. Great minds think alike!
I think last time I started at around 34 weeks. I can't remember how many. My labour was very short due to being induced but prior to the induction my OB indicated that my cervix was very ripe and ready to go so I'm hoping that the RLT contributed to that.
RL doesn't contribute to ripening the cervix (to my knowledge, could be wrong), it helps tone the uterine muscles, which is supposed to help you have more efficient (stronger, more powerfully 'working') contractions, and therefore a quicker and more efficient labour. Evening primrose oil is used for ripening the cervix :)
I started drinking the tea at 32 weeks. I'll start on the tabs at 36 :)
I took the tablets from 32 weeks with both my pregnancies. I forgot a lot of times in my first pregnancy and my labour was long with a 15 minute pushing stage.
My second pregnancy I took them religiously and had a less than 5 minute pushing stage.
From my understanding raspberry leaf helps with making the contractions a lot more efficient and strengthens the uterine muscles making the pushing stage a lot shorter and easier on the body. Certainly seemed to work for me.
Don't think my body needs any prepping - both my boys come at 38wks spontaneous labour after DTD ;)
I took tablets from 34 or 36 weeks (can't remember!!) with DD. I had no pushing stage- she moved down and crowned in one contraction and I gave a little (fart sized) push to see what would happen and her head shot out.
Will definitely be taking them again this time!
I started at 34 weeks as well on the tablets. It depends on the brand as to how many you are supposed to take. Umm the only ones I could find were 'Herbs of Gold' online, natures own have stopped making them I think. You only need to take 2 tablets once a day of the 'Herbs of Gold' ones too, some of the others were lots more multiple times a day.
Lol :) Artechim
Thanks everyone..
So no chemist stock (any brands) of the rasberry tablets anymore? Wonder if the health shops do..
