Talking?
My DD is 13 months old. She seems very bright, very aware and has a huge understanding of words and sentences but she doesn't talk! Almost at all. She says dada at times and will sometimes yell ma which I assume refers to me. She can say 'wassis' (what's this) and whozat (who's that). She will baa at sheep and can say patch for our dog but that's it. I'm not really worried, her hearing seems fine and her understanding is great, guess I'm just wondering what stage your 12/13 month old is or was at with talking and vocabulary. Main reason for asking was there is a 14 month old at playgroup who said biscuit please mum and then said thankyou afterwards - I was in awe!!! There is no WAY DD will be at that stage in 4 weeks!!

I would say she's ahead of a lot of kids. Around 18 months they have a language explosion and learn heaps of words every day :)

It's hard not to compare isn't it? I know a little boy a couple of days older than my Moo who has always been a HUGE talker :D My little guy is a bit like your DD, at 13 months he was only saying 'muma', 'dada', 'hat' & maybe one other word. I used to worry about it but now he's a bit older he is saying a lot more & even if he doesn't talk heaps, he still understands us. Hope that helps!

Hi kelsbels.
Sounds like your dd is saying more then mine was at that age! My dd only really started talking at about 2 and its only been the last few months that shes been putting 3 or
4 words together. She repeats pretty much everything I say now and Im like Yay, shes finally at that sponge brain stage everyong talks about where thay just repeat everything!! :)
I know what you mean about playgroup though, its hard not to compare your child with the others. But we just have to remember they all develop at their own pace :)
