Thanks for the link Yeddi. $250,000 isn't much for the loss of your child is it?:( And I'm sure all of the parents who did manage to get any compensation had to fight like crazy to get it let alone the odd family who have to fight like crazy to prove their child has a physical problem due to vaccination. Every time I read something like this I am so thankful that we didn't vaccinate DS.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the use of human diploid cells derived from aborted human fetus in the 12month MMR and its proposed link to autism too. The amount of parents who claim that their child developed rapid onset of autistic symptoms (speech, motor skill regression) after MMR compared with earlier (non-human diploid cell) containing vaccines is quite staggering. Of course, speech and motor skills are more adavanced at this age so I suppose one could argue that the physical effects and subsequent regression are simply more pronounced? I have read some interesting material in the past on the ability of the body to develop antibodies to human tissue, given the presence of human diploid cells in the bloodstream. Another area that requires more research, no doubt.
This is not to discount the effects of heavy metals such as thimerosal and aluminium on the brain, however - which we know is not benign.

Personally I saw signs of autism before the MMR - it was her 6 month shots where I saw the biggest difference. However, DD did have her first fit 1 week after having the MMR, and lost what words she did have and didn't regain them until 8 months later.

mmmm.... so sad and yet a story I have heard so often.
It would also be interesting to compare the rate of adverse reactions to MMR in groups of children who have delayed vaccination (ie - receive their first round of shots at 12months) and those who have adhered strictly to the schedule. I'd be curious as to the extent that accumulative levels of heavy metals and other toxins influence the MMR reaction.
Did you ever try any Chelation therapy for your daughter? I have spoken with a couple of parents of vaccine damaged children who are strong advocates for this method for heavy metal removal (along with intensive nutritional therapy- under the guidance of a qualified Naturopath). I did it myself a few years ago to test the theory - had a hair trace mineral analysis test conducted at pathology and then proceeded to take small amounts of bentonite clay for a period of 5-6 months before having another test conducted. The results were quite remarkable. Levels of aluminium, cadmium, mercury, arsenic etc were all drastically reduced. Not to mention I felt progressively more alert and energetic as I continued with the bentonite....

Have to add - of course it was alarming to see the levels of heavy metals accumulated in my body, despite my best efforts to limit my exposure to them.

I've not tried bentonite chelation although I looked into it. I decided against it due to its possible affects on good bacteria in the gut, constipation and the fact it contains trace amounts of aluminium. My DD already had enough gut issues and I didn't want to use a treatment that may exasperate them, plus I felt she was too young and wouldn't be overly accommodating anyway.

I did use alternative methods such as eating foods high in sulphur (onion/garlic in particular), epsom salts baths, and improving good gut bacteria through eating a lot of fermented foods and the removal of yeast from the diet. I did see quite large improvements. On an interesting point, DD's hair samples showed quite low metals, which is usual for autistic children, combined with her blood tests (which showed high levels) it showed she was not excreting them like she should. I haven't taken her back to be retested yet though - but we would initially want to see higher levels in her hair, not less.

You seem to know so much about this, where did you do your research?
With every vaccine do the risks increase due to the aluminum etc?
We have decided to delay mmr until dd starts school but she is having the others. We wanted to delay the hep b and some others but the shots are all combined now so we couldn't pick n choose. If we wanted her to have whooping cough vacc she had to have the others as well.
Can you tell me a bit more about the dangers of the metals in the vaccines or pm me?

Babyluv- you can get DTPa + polio if you want :) That's the smallest you can get but still means you don't have to have hep B, etc.

I personally hate the hep B - it's made on mutated yeast which can affect the gut. I think it's wrong that they don't provide the option of single vaccines. I bet you vaccination rates would go up if they did, if it's health they are truly worried about.

Exactly Yeddi. If I could get single vaccines and space them out I would be MUCH more likely to vaccinate.

Yeddi - I had read about the potential effect on diminishing gut flora too, but I managed to find able a brand which also contains probiotic bacteria and other herbs which support the gut lining/mucous membranes. Supposedly there are various practitioner only ranges which use purified bentonite? We order bags of it for the garden but we won't use that internally for the reasons you mentioned. Sounds like you've obviously put in heaps of time and effort with regards to yr DD. I'm sure she's come a long way and you have learnt heaps in the process! That's really interesting about your DD's hair samples..... I'm convinced that bentonite reduced my heavy metal count based on other physical factors, but it definitely sounds like yr DD has had issues excreting them in the first place. You have interested me in having my blood tested for HMs now!!

I also looked into Zeolite but it is very expensive. Because of the structure of zeolite, it traps the heavy metals in there and they cannot get out, so even if the zeolite was unpurified (the best type is), according to theory it would pass through the body without depositing metals, only attracting and locking in more. Sounds too good to be true, but last I heard they had trialed it in a study of Autistic kids in the US with some wonderful results! I wish they added Zeolite instead of Fluoride to the water supply..... :D

Bentonite is a dark clay, its also added to wine sometimes to help clarify it, I imagine that it is a bit more refined than the garden variety Jelly. I guess it would be similar to the food grade stuff we used in the wine. I could see it causing constipation but I can't imagine that it would effect the bacteria there. I think zeolite is similar too? They must work like charcoal, still given to people in emergency departments to soak up chemicals in the stomach (nasty stuff too, yeach!).

I'm curious as to whether you can take out good metals from the body with these therapies as well as mercury/aluminium, is there too much of a good thing?

Yeddi, I was interested to hear about your daughters metal levels as different from the levels in the hair. From my understanding, things that show up in the hair are from inside the cells (not excreted purposefully but just caught up and expelled) but chemicals and metals in the bloodstream won't necessarily wind up in the cells if they aren't transported there. Is it possible her metal levels peaked at the time of the test for some reason? I've heard that hair level testing is pretty inaccurate yet it still seems to be used regularly...
