Bulky uterus on ultrasound?

Hi all
I will be going back to doctor for results, however anyone want to shed any light meanwhile (oh and yes, I ripped open the 'to be opened by referring doctor only sticker - it's about me so why can't I look at it?).

Uterus is anteverted and appears bulky with uterine volume estimated at 109cc. Fibroid is noted anterirly at the body of the uterus - hypo-echoic fibroid measuring approx 2.2x2.4x3.1cm. (Note this is smaller than measurements on us of 2006). Endometrial thickness 6mm. Ovaries normal (yay). No Adnexal mass or free fluid.


So? My uterus was not bulky last time - is that any excuse for my fat tummy??? And do these fibroids affect the ability to conceive/carry a child.

Bulky uterus could be adenomyosis????

The fibroid could be the cause for the bulk?? ( just guessing here). The fibroids could cause problems with conceiving and pregnancy, but saying that plenty of people have fibroids during their pregnancy, some case trouble ( ie pain) some don't. Depends on the size and placement. Your doctor will be able to shed more light. Good luck, hope it all works out for you xx

I recently had an u/s that said the uterus was bulky. I was told that the bulky refers to the thickness of the endometrium/lining and not the size of the uterus, and usually means that it's in the latter half of the cycle. ie nice thick bulky lining ready to receive an embryo.
My u/s was done about 4 days before AF came so it made sense. Perhaps when you had your previous u/s you weren't so far along in your cycle as you were this time. Maybe check that out if you can :)

Well AF is due tomorrow or the next day, so that could explain it. They say adenomyosis (how do you pronounce that) is most common in women who've had a baby or some form of uterine surgery - which is not me... anyhow, thanks for the replies.
