Tax bill - help!

I've received a big tax bill for a family trust that we closed a few years ago. It didn't trade for 10 years and apparently we didn't do all the tax returns ( but did all the bas). This was a final demand letter, but I've never received any letters before now. If I'd received one on 2006 I'd have done something about it.

Does anyone have any advice? I called the ato today, was on hold for 95 mins and was then told my name wasn't on the "speak to list" so they couldn't tell me anything. Do I have a leg to stand on if I try to appeal this?

Maybe see an accountant if you don't have any luck on the phone again tomorrow. If you ring tomorrow tell them you were on hold today for 95 mins so you want to make sure you are spoken to

I agree, call your Accountant firstly (if you have one) or try the ATO again.
