Yay for MIL! :)
I had a nice experience today with my mother in law!
We had some people we knew (friends of friends sorta thing) come to the door at her place and they were chatting to her, and I came out to say hi to them and I had Ayva with me, and of course they were gooing and gahhing over her, saying how gorgeous she is, and asking whether I'm still breastfeeding etc.
They then asked how long I plan to feed her for, and I said I dont know, I haven't planned that far yet, and my MIL was saying to feed til at least 2-3 and they laughed and said "oh, maybe not that long!" and she said "well I did! I breastfed Jono (DH's brother) til 3, and jay til just after 2" and they were like "oh wow!" sort of not knowing what to say, and during that conversation, when it came up, kept saying I should continue feeding as long as she wants it, instead of saying I should stop when she's 1, or 1.5 etc. like alot of people seem to think I should!
Because I'm the first in my family to breastfeed (including my mum, who bottle fed all 4 of us kids, my sister who has 2 kids, both bottle fed, and my SIL who also has 2 kids who were bottlefed!) I havent had anyone who KNOWS what it's like to BF and the problems and such that you encounter, and even just support and sort of making me feel more at ease about feeding around them rather than being awkward about it.
It just made me so happy that she is so supportive of extended BF'ing and just BF'ing in general!! :)
(not saying that others aren't, it's just different is all! Everyone always says how nice it is that I'm feeding etc)
It's so nice that everyone says that DD looks so healthy! Everyone seems to say it! I love that my boob juice is the thing keeping her so healthy and gorgeous! :heartbeat:
I would have never thought I'd be hear 3 months ago with all the troubles I was having!
Just had to share! :)
