Tell me, has anyone ever used/brought a Go Girl? (or that kind of product)

Bit of an overshare...
I think some may think its a little weird, or even gross. and before now i kind of thought so too..
but, we go out camping and boating alot. There is nothing worse than needing to wee, and being in the middle of a huge body of water, or camping and knowing you have to squat behind a bush.
So, i am seriously considering buying a GoGirl, its a silicon funnel type thing, that allows you to wee standing up (like a guy)
Has anyone ever brought one? are they good? easy to use?
(please, i know if you dont approve of this kind of thing, theres no need to be negative)

one of the girls I used to work with swears by them, she took hers the whole way through China and it thought it was brilliant. She's also taken it to the cricket and been able to go into the mens toilets :rofl:

I had heard of these before but they used to be called something else... Can't remember.
I reckon it'd take a bit of getting used to, in terms of 'placement' etc. Plus you'd want to keep some wipes handy for splashes and be able to rinse it after each use.
Personally I haven't a drama with squatting behind a bush while camping. On longer trips I got pretty darn efficient at it, especially on the occasions when I was preggers and peeing every 5 minutes. I wouldn't bother buying one myself.
I don't boat/fish though - I'd be too busy throwing my guts up to even think about how I'm going to pee :)
So why the hell not?

Anyway, I know nothing about them really but they sound fascinating to me and not gross at all. Needing to sit down in some toilets is gross!

Using it occassionally would be good but you would have to be careful that you don't use it too much when you are away. Sitting is good for our bladdars and squatting is even better :)

the mental image of you and dh peeing off the side of the boat together in ammusing me atm :) they sound good. handy to stick in you bag for emergencies.

They were called she pee when I went to the Glastonbury festival a few years ago.... But I couldn't bring myself to use it..... I went the 'long drop' instead!!

Yes!! I bought one to travel through Europe and I love it! Definitely recommend.
I was scarred from a camping trip to Fraser Island where you couldn't walk two steps sidewards without running into another family camping. It was so packed and I kept holding on and on. AWFUL.
Plus there's nothing worse than a yukky public toilet.

I have a Whizz (same thing, different brand) and it was a godsend when I was trekking in Borneo. Nothing worse than attempting to squat in bug and snake infested tropical jungle! It was SOOO worth the money. The only thing I found was it could sometimes be awkward depending on the pants I was wearing that day, but I never had any leaks or anything like that.

Honestly, best $30 I ever spent.

After wracking my brain all night, I think the ones I first heard about were called Travel Mate.

Ohh this would be great, i don't mind peeing behind a tree while camping (done that all my life) but often when were out on the boat i have to get DP to pull up, move and find a place for me to get out on the river bank.. would be funny to see his face when i stand up and pee over the side :rofl:

I am LOL'ing. I never knew these things existed. I mean sure there is a lot of convenience but a lot of hilarity too ;) Especially the images that were coming up.

There are disposable ones (if you don't want to wash them), mostly used for music festivals etc called P-Mate. I think they are cardboard.

I say if you see a use for it - go for it!

I've meant to buy some of these in the past but never remember till the day before we're going away. Quite often we camp in places that only have a drop toilet so :sick: I think they would be so awesome!

I never knew these existed! I googled like mad when I read this thread and they are such an awesome idea! I just don't know if I could get over the whole 'standing to wee' thing. I can see how they would be so handy in certain situations (like on a boat - taking a wee in a bucket or over the side is not fun nor easy!) but I reckon I'd feel a bit weird standing up to wee too, like I'd magically had a sex change! :rofl:
