Concerned about Smelly, Soft Poop.....

My DD 2 years old has been having very soft and very smelly poop since she was 18months old.
First doctor told me not to worry, and second doctor ran a stool sample and blood tests which all came back fine. So then she told me not to worry about it, and just keep going day today :shakehead:

She eats a wide range of foods, so singling something out by trial and error may take a while. At first I thought it was the chocolate spread she was having on her sandwiches, cutting that out seemed to ease it up but not stop it all together.

I guess what I am asking is, is there a way for the docs to tell me that she may be intolerant to some food, by allergy testing? Because the last doctor told me to not even worry about it, as she is too young.

She is 2 years old and only weighs at the most 11kg. So she is underweight for her age, but she is by no means sick. She is happy and healthy.
But should I take her back to the docs and demand an explanation?

PS: I haven't started toilet training yet for this reason, as I think it is going to be hard to toilet train her when she has irregular bowel movements and they are so soft and sticky.....

I thought that was normal??? My 2 year olds poop has always been like that... And yes, I have wondered how I'm going to toilet train!!

My 2 yr old DD has soft smelly poops too...her daycare lady says there's a couple of kids in the room with poos like that. Not sure if that is reassuring? I am a little worried too...but hope it'll adjust as she gets older?

My DD has this too. She's had some tests done, nothing came up. Part of it for us was dairy - she had far too much dairy, toddlers are only supposed to have 4-5 serves a day, a serve being a piece of cheese or 100mls of milk.

I was giving her about double this and it was affecting her.

Apparently she's also got "toddler diarrhea", which is vastly common. Apparently.

So while it is sort of normal, there are some things you can try and do to help. Check her dairy intake and another on is fruit - one-two pieces of fruit.

Sultanas are a no-no - they just make the diarrhea worse.

We just find that we have to be quite strict with her diet... Watch how much fruit she has, dairy, but also sugars, fats, etc. It's a bit hard and sometimes it has no real affect, she still gets diarrhea. But it's better than it was.

Ocean I was going to suggest toddler diarrhea too. My son had it when he was younger, he grew out of it with no ill effects.
