As long as you can stay hydrated you shouldn't need to go into hospital.
Try eating small meals or even crackers & make sure you sip water all day.
Hope you feel better soon :)
Sorry to hear youre having a rough time. During my pg with DS2 I was admitted to hospital at 10 weeks (but should have gone much earlier) because:
1. Maxalon and zofran didnt stop the vomiting which was 8 or so times a day
2. I was vomiting up solid food (and hence blood) because I had no water in my body. If I drank water it would come back up straight away.
3. Vomiting bile when there was no food left in my stomach.
4. Severe constipation and very little urination
5. Furry, dry tounge (from dehydration).
6. Absolute extreme exhaustion and unable to care for myself.
I was admitted for 4 days. I should have gone earlier because it got so bad. If you feel that you really are dehydrated then you really should go to hospital because the IV fluids made me feel human again.
Yep, definitely if you're not holding down fluids. My first pregnancy I managed to avoid it by just taking a mouthful of water at a time, enough to wet the inside of my mouth and keep it down, gradually building up to a decent swallow every 5-10 minutes.
Foodwise try very small amounts frequently of gentle foods, but if you can't keep anything down for more than a day or two I'd think about at least checking with your doctor/midwife.
Sounds like you are fine to stay home at the moment and keep up hydration yourself, but if it gets to keeping nothing down (not even water) for 7 or 8 hours you could either go to hospital or get into a GP who may be able to give you a shot of maxalon. That was my plan of attack, try the shot of maxalon first (from GP or locum) then head to hospital if required.
The Zofran was a lifesaver for me and probably the thing that kept me out of hossie (even though I was throwing up 6 times a night), not fun at all...
I'd be talking to your dr to see if you can get some anti nausea meds first prior to thinking about hospital.
For me it was when I stopped urinating. I was severely dehydrated after vomiting for 4 days and nights straight at 5 weeks pregnant.
Definently when you stop urinating and can feel your dehydrated.
I started vomiting blood I tore my esophagus that bad, I couldn't even keep water down..

Keep drinking small amounts and often. Even if you vomit some will stay down, and go towards keeping you hydrated.
Think about tummy bugs - people cope with them vomiting for several days, and sipping fluids, it's when it goes on longer or you can't drink at all, you need to go.
For me, I was vomiting 5-10 times a day, as well as absolutely being unable to bring myself to drink barely a drop.
Hope you feel better soon. Do go if you get worse, IV fluids help a lot.
Thanks everyone. Some of you are tough mamas!
Ended up going in this arvo. Had zofran and IV fluids. Pretty worn out - off to bed.
Thanks again xoxo
