So my DS has spots on his face and head only. The aren't bright red just a pale raised spot which is quite small. Any ideas? When we saw the pead he said he had some dermatitis as a result of the cold weather. They don't bother him and he is perfectly normal in all other ways.
My DS has the same thing. Our pead also said it was dermatitis and that gently washing it with cool water and then applying sorbolene a few times a day would help, and it is :-)
oops just re read your post.....can I suggest using moo goo soothing cream instead of a harsh chemical based one. and just wash bubs in water no need for soap or bubbles :hug:
I 2nd using moogoo, we use the msm cream for dd and she has never had any nappy rash and I use it on my hands as they get dry & sore in winter it's fantastic!
Both my babies had spots on their faces around that age - I was told it was just hormones, and while it can look really nasty that it just goes away on its own. No matter what it is I would suggest something super gentle, like moogoo or even just water (no soap!) and perhaps a little olive oil :)
It's perfectly normal and you don't need to do anything to it. Nearly all babies get it, it is believed to be related to the levels of hormones dropping after being in mum's uterus but I don't think anyone knows for sure. I can't believe the paed didn't know that!! The real name is millia but it's also called milk rash, probably because babies only drink milk then, but it's not related to the milk at all.
Yep, its milk spots and perfectly normal. A pharmacist told me it's due to their sweat glands opening up and starting to work at that age. DS2 had them extremely bad for around 2 weeks and his skin is perfect again :)
If you're breastfeeding put some breast milk on them I found that helped.
I used pawpaw ointment at night, seemed to work well. We also added chamomile and calandula tea to the bath water and used this to wipe her face several times a day when it was nasty red looking.
It was worse if I wore her in a sling a lot each day.
