They Hurt Sooo Much! :(

20weeks into pregnancy, and still feeding DS (12months). I don't want to wean him, but some days my poor boobs just can't handle the pain :( Okay, well maybe they can, but I can't :redface:

I have checked his attachment and it is really good. He gets a good mouth of boob and 99.9% of the time doesn't bite. I have no obvious nipple problems (cracked/bleeding/blisters) but the pain seems to come through the boob itself, almost like a blocked duct being drawn out and it is REALLY painful. Sometimes it can last the whole feed, sometimes the first couple of minutes, sometimes not at all :rolleyes: I am starting to dread feeds because of the pain :shakehead:

I have also noticed they are super sensitive to the cold and go a nice shade of deep purple. Walking through the supermarket cold sections is a nightmare and I have to hold my boobs to try and relieve the discomfort :doh: and getting in the shower is like razor blades.

Can anyone please offer suggestions on how to relieve the agony :pray: I don't want to wean him because he is still soo little and he isn't ready to give it up yet, but I don't know how much more pain I can tolerate

No advice here either but big understanding hugs. Maybe a warm waterbottle or something before a BF or after to help relieve some of the discomfort?

I dunno I find BF painful too but DD is older and plays games with the twins now LOL

Your BB's are probably sore just cos of the hormone levels anyway cos of your pregnancy but having DS on there as well doesn't help!

I found if I had a blocked duct then I would get pain and redness in that area and I would have to get in the shower, really warm water and massage the area towards the nipple for a while. Also, getting DS to nurse as much as possible to help clear the blockage helped too. Good luck honey! Hope it clears up soon!! :hug:

If only it were a blocked duct, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any, no hard spots etc

Today will be a test I think, DS has a cold and so far has had 3 feeds... we normally only do 4 a day, including his night/early morning feed!

All I can suggest is maybe trying some heat packs? I got some great little Avent ones that you can pop inside your bra...

I have this experience in the cold section...sometimes it feels like my milk must be freezing! (but it comes out warm!)

DS weaned when I was about 10 weeks pregnant, so I didn't suffer for as long, but you have my sympathy :hug: I hope you get some relief

How are you going?

My LO wanted to feed, feed, feed this arvo, i knew she wasn't getting anything but she would crack it each time i took her off (she is teething and on a sleep strike again). eventually, i just had to take her off cos i couldn't stand having her attached anymore.

i hate not having enough milk, and she is too little to understand. she wouldn't drink any cows milk today either.

thankfully she has been asleep for a few hours now (i fell asleep on the couch) and i really hope she doesn't wake when i go in to bed.

Somedays are better than others. There have been times where I have to take P off because of the pain, and I know he is only comfort sucking. But I feel guilty for doing it! I am on the policy of don't offer/don't refuse... except when mummy's boobs are in too much pain. Luckily I still have a good supply
