Shellac nails
Anybody else discovered this wonderful new nail system by creative?
It's like nail polish that's chip free for up to 3 weeks :-)
Goes on like gel and cured under UV like light.
No damage to your natural nail.
Just thought I'd share cause I'm in love :-) :-) :-)

am contemplating getting it done, just want my nails a little bit longer
-
Oh my goodness- it looks so great!
Only got it today- so we'll see if it lasts as long as they say it does.

I do this at home and its home! I've got more gels tho but will be getting shellac too.
Also keep in mind that shellac doesnt last that long on everybodies nails, it all depends on how much you use your hands day to day, natural nail oils etc. Maybe last a week or so then start chipping! But still better than putting on regular nail polish and having it chip that very day!!

I won a treatment at a silent auction but haven't done it yet.
Does it go on like nail polish? How do you take it off?
-
It does go on like nail polish- but each coat(including) base coat is cured underneath the light.
I love the shine and how strong my nails feel :-)
It comes off with acetone, apparently it's best done at the salon.

Ngala- my tech told me to use cuticle oil every night to make it last longer, would you agree?

I've not heard of the cuticle oil, I guess everyone has their own little tips!
Did she said anything about applying a clear top coat? I do this with my gels as it keeps them shiny and protects the product. Also, when your nail grows out it kind of 'seals' the gel/shellac to your normal nail.
-
Nope, she didn't recommend that- just the cuticle oil and to call her if they chip before 2 weeks.
Also, not to try remove them myself.

haha yeh no picking at them!! You will damage your nail underneath.
I use acetone to remove gels and it still damages my nails a teeny bit but thats normally because I am impatient :)
Tell me how you go with them and how long they last!
-
Sure thing- thanks for your help.....

Reviving this thread....
So lasted a week, then got a small chip.... My fault- trying to scratch something sticky on the floor :-(
Week 2- same nail chipped a bit more.
Week 3- white tips started to discolour and could see a decent amount of growth, but still looked shiny.
Got them done again today- this time in a colour instead of French, see how we go :)
Also- thinking about purchasing the stuff and doing them myself....
Any pointers? I have done an acrylics course before- shellac seems far less complicated
-
Shellac is meant to be super easy, way easier than acrylic cause there is minimal prep! Has long as you have all the stuff there's no saying you can't do it. Check out YouTube! You'll pick up from that what you need, you'll have a fair idea what you need from just sitting in the chair while some one else does it.
If you want to know anymore, I'll help as much as I can :)
