my 2 week old has a tounge tie
my MCH nurse has recommended i see a doctor to get it checked
the local doctor she recommended is on sick leave and they dont know of any other doctors that deal with them
as my next appt with MCH isnt until 4 weeks he will be too old for a doctor to fix it
so i live in the 3029-3030 area and i need a doc please im willing to travel

I suggest ringing your local ABA group or contactcing local breastfeeding centre at public hospital (or call RWH) and ask them for names. As earlier done the better.

it wasnt found until he was a week old but they werent concerned but now they want it seen to and im on a 2 week time limit

Both my DS' had tongue tie snipped, 1 at 5 weeks and 1 at 8 weeks. I had a 3 week wait to get an appt for it.

Thats not correct, although they do say the earlier you have it seen tothe better.
Anyway, look up the rwh breastfeeding day stay and see if they can get you in to see Lisa Amir.
She also works at a medical clinic I think but you will need to pay (I think it cost me $30 after I got the refund from Medicare)
If you can't find the number ring the werribee mercy and ask to speak to the LC and see if they can get you some info.

I saw a doctor in the city for DD. She was also a lactation consultant with RWH
My LC recommended a GP at
Gamon Street Medical Centre
116 Gamon Street, Yarraville, VIC 3013, p: (03) 9687 2740. I forget the name of the GP but he was an older man. There aren't heaps of GPs there so the receptionist will know who you mean if you want a tongue tie snipped.

thanks for that FabFiona got an appt friday but he might not do it as hudson will be 3 weeks old and he wont do them 3 weeks and older
but if he wont do it but it needs to be done hopefully he can refer me onto someone else
He also won't do it if its too tight, or ifnits posterior, neither will the royal womens, if it's too tight unless you et Lisa on the days she is there.
You'd do well to make an appointment with Lisa Amir now, just in case the GP can't or won't do it.
She is the leading expert in TT.

FabFiona doctor did it today, mainly to ensure BF and he was the most lovely doctor ive ever met (too bad his not taking new patients only newborns with TT)

Hudson only cried when the dr stuck his fingers in his mouth soon as it was done i popped in his dummy then gave him a feed and he was happy as :D
ive already noticed his attaching so much easier
wonder if my supply will increase now (not that it was getting low but he might stimulate it more)

SO glad to hear about the snip! DSs was done at 4 weeks and by then his attachment was awful and took weeks to resolve itself. DS was the same - upset to be woken and mouth-invaded, but didn't feel the snip and went straight back to sleep! I got it done on a Sat morning when I couldn't get Lisa Amir (she was on friggin leave!) during the week and I explained that he was exclusively BF and he was killing me, with no intentions of not BFing, so they supported me and showed me that they value BFing.
When DD was due to be born I called my all the GP clinics in the area asking if they could do a TT snip at no notice and they said they would. She didn't need it, but that 12 weeks was awful and I wasn't taking any chances!
Enjoy from here on in! 5 years later DS is still having one feed a day - I can't tell him to stop, not after all that agony to get started ;)
