Baby Shower Ideas
Hi Everyone,
I am posting here here for some ideas for the "not so traditional" Baby Shower.
My BFF is currently thinking of having a mixed Baby Shower, possibly throwing a BBQ for the boys and the ladies will be inside doing stuff.
She is not super keen on the "cutesy" type thing and doesn't really want games, but I think I will throw a couple in there anyway as she said no games for her hens but was thrilled with the few we organised.
I told her about some of the things that are done in Blessingways and she likes a few of those ideas, like the bead bracelet and the candles and I told her that I was going to ask a friend who does pregnancy massage to come towards the end of her "party" so that way BFF could relax for an hour while we do the clean up.
So some fun but not so cutesy game ideas would be good.
I am sure her mother or mil will make the "official" cake but I ran my idea past her with a bassinette pavlova https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...1703-img-2764/ and she was really happy with this.
1 - I was thinking the iceblock baby game,
2 - I was thinking of a pass the parcel type thing and whoever gets the gift when the music stops, unwraps the parcel and there will be a baby trivia question and whoever gets the question right gets a small token prize and is out of the game ...... until everyone gets a prize.
3 - something else??
Does this sound ok??
I was going to do some research into the more appropriate crystal/gem stone beads that are related to birth/love/ no pain/ relaxation etc so any ideas on those sorts of crystals would be really good too.
Thanks so much guys

At my baby shower recently, my mum and sister organised 3 games.
The first was a memory game - 10 items on a tray, everyone had 20 seconds to memorise, then they were covered, and the person who got the most right first won.
The second game used the same items, and was a 'price is right' type game. You had to guess the cost price of each item and come up with the total price. Whoever is closest to the total without going over wins.
Best part is the mum to be is given all the items to keep afterwards.
Third game was 3 people given sippy cups half filled with water, whoever drank the fastest won.

A baby shower I went to recently had some great games, we had to cut a piece of ribbon to the size of the mum to be's belly and whoever was closest won. We played bingo but instead of numbers it was baby items. They had a bowl of rice with a pack of small safety pins in it and whoever found the most pins in 30 sec while blindfolded won - it's alot harder than it sounds!

I had a mixed baby shower.
We started together for chatting etc, then the fellas (and a couple of girls) went outside and played soccer and cricket in the yard, which most of the girls (and one guy) stayed inside for the games.
We had:
1. guess how many jelly babies in the jar
2. peg game (everyone starts with 4 pegs, but if you say "baby" you ahve to give one peg to the person who first catches you saying it) [pegs were given at the start of the party to everyone]
3. "don't forget the lyrics" nursery rhyme style
4. blindfolded baby food - three guests are blindfolded, and get given a spoonful of babyfood, and have to guess what it is
5. Shape-o race - this was the absolute winner, each guest had to complete the shape-o (emptying out all the pieces then putting them all in the right holes) and whoever gets it done with the quickest time wins. man, people got competitive!!
6. baby item memory
7. umm ... don't remember what else.
but no "cutesy" ones ... and no gross ones (eating melted chocolate bars off nappies, and identifying what chocolate bar it was, etc ...
and one of the guests made the cakes - a bit B and a big G.
and we had pink and blue foods (coloured white chocolate dipped strawberries, salmon and cream cheese on pink and blue pikelettes, iced biscuits, etc).
and a big BBQ.
and then everyone came inside for the opening of the gifts :D
it was a really great day!
:happydance:
oh, and we have a running theme with my crew of quizes - we do it at pre-wedding gigs, and have now started doing it for baby gigs ... so questions about the couple - some serious, some funny, and then predictions and tips.
so questions might be where bub was conceived, when baby talks started happening, who will be in charge of night time settling, etc ...
predictions were date and time of birth, what we'll each be doing when labour starts/waters break, name, weight, length, etc ...
and then a spot for advice for parents, and tips about the baby!!
they're pretty funny, and a great thing to keep :)
