Who's clumsier - boys or girls?

So as the topic says - I'd love to know if you think boy toddlers or girl toddlers are clumsier??

My DD fell over a bit as she was learning to walk and had a few bumps and bruises... But not a patch on DS.

He just seems to be so much more accident prone than DD! He is 1 going on 10 it seems - he just goes non-stop, launches himself into everything and anything! And as a result... He constantly bumps his head - today we had to get his head glued back together as he split it open on the door frame :rolleyes: It wasn't too bad, just a little cut, but still, it got me thinking...

He's so much clumsier than my DD. So many more bumps, bruises, scratches, runs to the GP to get his head glued!

Is it a boy thing? I know boys can generally be more "physical" than girls... Are they clumsier? Is it just mine, or is this a common thing?

I think it's dependent on the child, my girls are both very 'physical' (tomboys), love climbing, running, jumping and making trouble.
DD2 is prob more accident prone but nothing out of the ordinary for a very active child :p

No I don't think it's a gender thing. My first DD was (and still is) a clutz. My second DD is totally nimble and hasn't had even the tiniest fraction of bumps and bruises that DD1 one did.

ZF our kids are either going to play really well together or spend the whole time beating each other up :lol:

my DD is bumping her head all the time :( freaks me out!! shes just crazy and makes her self dizzy till she falls or climbs things and jumps off!!! so I dont think its just ur ds!

DS1 trips over his own shadow!!! He regularly crying as fell over or hurt himself.

DS2 is getting there but not as bad.

My DD is definatley in the wars more than my DS but she is very tomboyish trying to keep up with him...he was our first born so probably a bit more smothered with care from mum ;-)

ok i had the ultimate test- b/g twins

DD would fall right off a piece of play equipment, do a elegant roll and land on her feet without even a crinkle on her clothes
DS - SPLAT!
boys more clumiers- why? more distracted/ cant do more than one thing at a time and easily lose concentration on what they were doing at the time
BTW i always found that all kids become clumsy during a growth spurt. The muscles that grow have to learn to co-ordinate and do things that they have never learnt before- that is why kids always go backwards when they are learning something like swimming lessons during a growth spurt!!!
boys also tend to be better a different motor skills to girls at this age- DS got off training wheels quicker than DD, where as DD learnt to whistle, click her fingers and tie shoe laces quicker than DS

there is definately a difference between boys and girls !!

My DD is terribly clumsy. She has been since the day she was born. She walks into doorways, trips over her feet, trips over anything on the floor.... If anyone is garranteed to get hurt in a group of kids, it will be her.. and its her own doing. DD is quite well known in our families for her clumsiness. lol. poor child.

I laugh that poor DS has inherited my clumsiness gene.. (so not really a B/G thing... it came from me!! lol) All day I hear.... "BUMP" "Owww, mummy i hurt my........" fill in the blank.. lol

He has had cut lips, bruises, scrapes, bumps but so far nothing broken! (though we thought he may have broken his nose the other week, but luckily he hadnt!!) He does normal kid stuff, he just falls alot while he does it. Or trips, or just runs into things!!!

So far in on eyear DD has not had any blood yet (touch wood), one bruise and no egg bumps!!! And she is right there beside DS doing it all lol!!!! I think she has inherited her daddy's grace!!!

And as far as DH and I go, i am BY FAR more clumsy than he is!!!!!!! I dont think he has ever fallen over in his life, where as i will trip up stairs, trip just because and run into things constantly!!!!

Ok so its not just as simple as boy/girl!!! Interesting!

SB - I am constantly hearing BUMP "waaaaah" (not quite verbal yet!!!) - he's always falling down! Poor mite!

My DS1 is clumsier than my DD but I don't know whether it has anything to do with his Y chromosome! He is certainly more physical and adventurous than his sister, so maybe that is why he appears clumsier.

OP.. DD has started saying "owie" when she cries, because DS cries all the time saying "owie" coz he hurt himself!!! So if she is unhappy she sits there and cries "ooowwwiiiieeeeee" lol

Yesterdsy DS ended up with a big bandaid on his head for the day and then a late-night dash to my friend's house so her DH (who is also the head of an ED at a Melb hospital) could glue his head back together...

So all day we had DD saying "Mummy I need a bandaid like X" and then it was "Mummy I need to see the Dr like X"... DH tried the following: "DD, you can stay here with Daddy and have CAKE or you can go to the Dr with Mummy, what do you want to do?" GUESS WHAT SHE CHOSE? :wall:

Sigh.

DD is definitely clumsier than DS, but he's more of a daredevil and is more likely to gets scrapes and bruises because of that.

DD is definately less physically capable than DS. She's not as strong or flexible. When she was little she had ear issues though, so she did fall over alot more due to lack of balance. But DS1 is much more of a daredevil and now at almost 3, will do stupid things and take chances that DD won't and never did. She's got more sense than him, lol!! I am sure it will DS1 that I will be taking to hospital first for a broken arm or something like that, though we've gotten through almost 3yrs without a trip to the hospital for him, 4 if you include DD too!

My Moo is SO clumsy :lol: if there is a crack in the pavement this kid will trip over it! He isn't as bad as he used to be but he'll still a total klutz. He's forever running into door frames, knocking his head on something and tripping over his own feet.
