tests!
WOW!!! just started reading a book called getting pregnant by some professor,it seems very overwhelming how am i meant to knwo where to go and what to do when i dont even understand half the jargon in there......from what i can read i have PCOS which i already knew but that has caused anovulation (infrequent ovulating) they have doen a FSH test and LH test, plus all the ultrasounds transvaginal and external, have tried chlomid once didnt work now after the cysts are being removed in the upcoming months hopefully i start to get somewhere, but then again dont want to get too excited...does anyone know any other tests FS might do if burning the ovaries doesnt make a difference, i am at a loss

the tests you'll have will depend on which FS you have, and what tests you've already had. the results from some tests will lead to other tests in some cases
i assume you're having ovarian drilling/golf balling surgery soon based on your comment - the theory is that the surgery will make your ovaries more receptive to the drugs they may administer. it will be done as laproscopic surgery, so you may find they'll check your uterus at the time, and maybe even put some dye through your tubes to make sure there are no blockages. i had all this done (plus a look around for endometriosis) when i first started having investigations done - was done by the gyne before i was referred to the FS
i also had some basic hormone tests (doing them again now) and a glucose tolerance test with insulin levels being tested to see if i had insulin resistance with the PCOS. which i did. and i started on metformin/diabex
when i was referred to the FS, our first appointment had us walking out with a referral for blood tests for each of us. DH had to have another semen analysis, and we both had tests for a whole barrage of stuff - STD's (HIV etc), Hepatitis, hormones, also a few others where samples from each of us were referred to Melbourne to see if there was anything in my blood would react to his sperm (basically checking if i was having an immune reaction that had my body killing his swimmers). it sounds full on, but really, it was only blood tests (i had 11 vials taken that day from memory - may have been more cos i had the GTT repeated and was having 2 vials taken an hour for a couple of hours).
it was pretty full on and overwhelming at the time, but in retrospect, it's not that scary. it's just the happenings at the time that are pretty intimidating
good luck with tests hun
