How to make friends? Im failing need help!!!!!!

Hi so I moved to this town in Feb this year got right into the mothers group without much luck been trying too make some friends. I made a friend and just ended up being her baby sitter at least once a week until i started to say i was busy because she ended up asking three times a week she paid me, but just got over it. Anyway I noticed about a week ago that she and a her friend from playgroup had deleted me off facebook. I am still going to playgroup and they are nice as pie and have invited me to her sons first birthday party??????? I am a little confused how to act or if i should go??? Maybe i should talk to them but i feel silly bringing it up. I have invited them over or to the park a couple of times to be told half an hour before they cant make it. What would do maybe just act like nothing happened?

Do your kids get along?? If they dont I wouldnt go to the party... I cant see them being overly nice to you while your there. Are there any other play groups you could join?? I would just back away and not bother with these two, easier said than done when your trying to make new friends! But just from what you have said, I dont think they are very nice. :hug:

Sorry I'm not much help- I dont make friends that easily either, I went to a play group for a year and never got close to any of the women there, they had their own little "mothers group" that got together regularly that I was never invited to. I have BB to thank for the decent friends I have made recently :-)

Go to the park, figure out who goes alone, chat to them.

Go to a coffee morning and make friends not based on who your child plays with.

Take long walks and chat to all and any interested strangers.

Join a group - church service, art group, book club - anything where you get to meet people.

Ask the local baby shop if they do network evenings: mums get to meet each other and peruse the shop with a drink.

HTH, I have needed a mixture of all of these but have some decent friends now.

I wish I had any answers but Im a bit the same, unfortunately not in a new location though! But I just wanted to offer you a big :hug: feeling lonely isnt nice and being treated the way you are isnt fair either.

:hug: I know how you feel. Unfortunately I don't really have any advice either just sympathy.

I haven't been able to make any friends here either and its not through lack of trying it just seems that some people (i.e women) don't like me! They're civil to my face at DH's work things, but they all deleted me off facebook, never invite me out to their shindigs yet talk about them right in front of me as if I'm not there when I do see them, and stuff like that. I also thought I had one friend but like you it turns out she was just using me so she could borrow my car - she paid for fuel and gave us some extra money but as soon as I needed a favour? No dice.

My only advice would be to make friends with men, for the most part they've realised that high school is over! :rofl:

I find it hard to make friends, but much easier since having kids.
You can try BB meetups - perhaps there are some people you've clicked with online who also happen to live nearby?
I've also made friends through my local ABA group. Definitely recommend joining and getting along to a meeting if you can.
