changing credit card after 18 years?? do I have to fill out forms for everyone???????

Hi,
I have always avoided changing credit cards as I have so many autopayments coming out of it but tonight a friend convinced me to change to another card that has a much better rewards program. Sooooo do I have to ring all the places I have autopayments from my card and get them to send me their forms or if I just email my new credit card details to all the different places, will that be OK?

If you've had the same card for 18 years then maybe you call them and say why you want to switch.... They might reward a loyal customer.

Other than that, no. I would definitely not email credit card details... Too many dodgy people out there. Keep your old card, apply for the new one, then when you've received it, contact all your places where you have a direct payment coming out and change the details. Once they've all been sorted.... Cancel your old card.

Your new card company won't assist? Last time I switched banks, the new bank used a recent statement to find all my ddebits and change them. I only had to sign one form with them to give permission and they did the rest!

^^ Definately check what BBB said about the Bank doing it all for you - they should be able to make it as easy as possible for you.

Yes, and if they won't and you do wind up having to do it yourself, it may help to go through your latest statement and highlight all the direct payments coming out so you can systematically tick them off once you've contacted them.

Please please please whatever you do don't send any credit card details by email!! No reputable company will ever ask you to do this. Some may say you can update direct debits online, if you do always check that it's on a secure site (you should see the little padlock on your web-browser and the web address will have https instead of just http) - make sure you protect yourself!
