I had my c/s in December mainly due to breech position.
An OB told me that I couldn't start TTC til Christmas. I'm not planning to wait that long, going to TTC in September.
Will it affect my chances of a VBAC??
Did you wait 12 months to TTC with the hopes of a VBAC?
I was pg five months after my c/s.
Maybe check with the hospital/OB you'd be going with? I can't go to my previous hospital (don't do VBACs) and the birth centre I'm attending does have a cut off (think it's 18 months between C/S and VBAC). I just scrape through at 20.5 months! GL xo
Most hospitals recommend 18mths but really - there are no studies to show there is any reason why a lesser time is riskier - your wound actually heals really quickly. Mine was a failed VBAC attempt but I was pg when DD was 8mths old, and my kids are 17 mths apart.
Good luck and I agree maybe asking your hospital about what they say but also, ask what they will do if you fell pg earlier??? Would they refuse to let you "try" for a VBAC (in which case I would be running for the door)
The hospital I'll be going to only has 3 OBs. Only 2 can do c/s.
My OB (who I had until 20 weeks when DD's birth defect was discovered and I was sent to RWH) is extremely pro-VBAC. He tried for months to convince a woman to have a VBA2C, and she wouldn't even try. She went into labour and yelled and threatened to complain unless she had a c/s immediately.
DD has an appointment with one of the OBs (he's seeing her on behalf of a paed, as the closest paed is over 3 hours away) in a few weeks so I'll talk to him then.
I'm pretty sure my OB will be fine with a VBAC for me, he's very very good.
It was more just curiousity. Keep the answers coming, of course please.
I had a CS with DD and was pregnant at 6 months. My Ob has said VBAC is cool unless something happens between now and then (breech position etc, normal stuff) but he said that I am a good candidate because I had a CS last time for reasons that are unlikely to represent themselves. He didn't say anything at all about a timeframe for waiting etc etc at all.
I have 18 months and 4 days between my 2 cs births.
I was told 18 months is fine. I had nearly 19 months between my c/s and my failed vbac.
Then I had just under 16 months between my 2nd c-section and successful vba2c. And then again just under 16 months between my first and second vba2c.

I was told by my Ob to wait 6 months before TTC after my C-sect. I believe it takes your body a full 12 months to recover. From C-sect to VBAC it was 19 months.

All my clucky-ness is gone, due to DD teething again.
I'm definately going to talk to one of the OBs about it. Because I don't want a massive gap between the kids.
I had 17 months between pregnancies but a failed vbac attempt unfortunately :( my ob was fine with the shorter gap.
Mrs Nerd Burger - do you know why your first vbac attempt failed but you were successful with your vba2c? I'd love to have a vba2c next time round (also a tad scared though)....
I was pg 6 months after my cs and had a successful VBAC. I then fell pg again 14 months later and will be having my 2nd VBAC in 6 weeks!
I was 2 weeks overdue, had a wellbeing scan done and dd1 wasn't doing too well inside so she was taken out the next morning. I had the choice of being gently induced with the balloon method, but I didn't want to risk anything happening since she was still sitting really high, we were worried about cord position.:
I then moved and had dd2 and dd3 in an independent birth centre, under the supervision of an independent midwife.
my 2 are 3 days shy or 18months apart

my ob recommended 12 months from cs to pregnancy, but every ob and hospy are going to be different in what they like. i dont think there is a formal generic recommendation as such, just individual preferences. i was happy to wait the full 12months (and more) simply as i felt more comfortable with that and it suits my family better to wait to ttc again.
