Tell me about Steiner schools.

There are a couple in our area & one is 5 minutes down the road from mum & dad, 15 minutes away from the house I just put an application in for.

Other than having someone say once, 'if you can do it, do it', I don't know all that much about them.

From what I've read I think it would suit my kids... my girls at least (not so sure about DS yet).

This one has less that 50 kids. I'm guessing maybe 30. I didn't want to go a school too small (DD1's first had 12 kids), but I think this one could be ok.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good site that explains the schooling/philosophy properly?

Anyone have experience already?

Does the school have a website?
We're looking at one near us too and they have a lot of info on their site.

I did google them, but only based on their address. Couldn't remember their name.

the one here is silver tree steiner - you could take a look just for a rough idea. I'm assuming they're all more or less similar

A good website is steiner-australia dot org. It explains it very well and also about the man who created the steiner schools and a listing of Steiner schools.
There are a quite a few around Melbourne.

We might still have a chance yet! Friends live near the local one & have found out there is a house to rent on the same road as them :)
They're about 10 minutes away & were planning to start their DD there next year.

If I can get this opportunity I'm going to grab it!!

I think this one, being a very small school, out of town, shouldn't be too hard to get into. Their website says they are taking enrollments for now & next year, for every grade :)

They have a K/1 class & a 2 - 6 class. Only 4 teachers.

Got an email back already. Awesome cost (less than the Catholic school DD attended), but going up.
They are encouraging enrollments before next year, as that will keep the costs down as well.

She also suggested their early programs they have for DS.
