Not sure where i should of put this?
my DD has a white film on her toungue ( only a slight bit ) ive googled and it said its not always thrush, so was wondering what are the sypmtons for the mother to pass it on to baby? what are the signs that my breasts would be passing on the thrush?

it's pretty common for babies to have a whitish film on their tongue. It doesn't sound like thrush. Your breasts don't *pass on thrush *
so how do they get it?
Thrush is a yeast. It lives everywhere on our bodies and in the environment. But it only 'overgrows" when the immune system is challenged and can't deal with it. (so you are more likely to get thrush for instance, when you are pregnant) Babies are more likely to get thrush from bottle feeding equipment where a moist warm environment allows it to overgrow. It looks like a whitish, cottage cheesy substance on the inside of baby's lips and cheeks. It is unlikely that you would get it on your nipples and the theory of yeast in the ducts of the breast is almost entirely discredited. Often thrush is misdiagnosed when the infection is a bacterial one. but what your baby has sounds like just a normal whitish tongue.
Sorry to hijack but is thrush really that unlikely barb??? I only ask because I get thrush constantly whilst breastfeeding and I always seem to pass it on too bub. My symptoms include sever itching and pain like razor blades running down my ducts during and after a feed. My LC said it was thrush because bub had it too. I was treating as thrush and I had it for months, so might it have not been thrush and I was treating it wrong??

i dont have severe itching but in the last day or two i have a sharp kind of pain while and after breastfeeding - i wouldnt say its razorblades but it is uncomfortable. DD has also been clamping her jaw shut on my nipples so i thought the pain was due to that?
anyone?
