Would a vaporizer work?

Df is in the RAAF and gets free medical but refuses to take advantage of it :wall: anyway not my point, for the last few weeks he has been very weezy especially at night, last night in particular was a bad one, we went to bed and he tossed and turned for at least an hour before I made him get up and do something about it. He just sits there and attempts to take deep breaths but it really sounds like he's struggling. I understand why he wouldn't want to go see the medical on base, after all this could effect his job if it turns out to be asthma of something, hes gotten a little slack with his fitness since we were posted here and he's due for his annual fitness test very soon, so as an asthma sufferer myself I told him to start swimming as this will help with the fitness issue and hopefully his 'weezing' anyway despite all my rambling my question is would a vaporizer help with this? I've been meaning to get one as DS tends to get a little stuffy now and then and it effects his sleep, but would it help DFs shortness of breath? Can anyone recommend a way to help him? I hate seeing him struggle to breathe (not to mention in the middle of the night it's both concerning and annoying)
