VBAC Help - IM or Doula hired at 38+ weeks?

Hi,

I'm new and have JUST started to really panic about not getting a Vbac - I have a private Ob and Private hospital, the Ob is OK, the hospital is great, my DH is totally uninformed, refuses to read anything I give him and just keeps asking about my birth plan "when will you consent to a c/s"

I think I want help - possibly at the expense of DH. I am due to see my ob tomorrow and have been crying since Friday at the thought of another "elective c/s" conversation, I am well informed, know my rights and still feel very much alone and I would like not to feel alone at this time.

Does anyone know if it's even possible to hire a Doula at this point? And if you are a doula and are available - help!

Jen, where are you located? It is absolutely possible to get a doula at this point and very important from the sound of it. As you know, doula support has 50% less c/s rates which is even more important if you want a VBAC. If you need help, email me at kelly@bellybelly.com.au, I am available. An IM is the gold standard, if you can get one definitely do it, but a doula will be more cost effective and more readily available - many IMs tend to book out quickly but its not impossible.

I am sure there should be a doula in Melbourne who could help. I wish I could but I am in tasmania. Trust yourself and your body and ask as many questions as you can- especially if they tell you that you need a caesarean. Find out your options and the risks involved. I would get on the doula search here and find someone in your area. Good luck.
