The most meaningful gift you received after you loss?

2 years ago yesterday my beautiful nephew was taken away far too soon.

I really want to get something for my SIL (the only one I get along with) and her DH, I was thinking maybe one of those sunset photos with the names in the sand blown up on canvas or something else?

I'm really really really really lost, I want it to be a surprise.

I'm still floored the rest of her family didn't even bother to contact her yesterday, no one cares and he's been swept under the rug. I know this hurts her, we've talked about and she was very appreciative DH and I made the effort to sms her and leave a message on facebook for her yesterday.

I just want her to know that her son does matter and people do remember him.

So beautiful mothers what gift has blown you away and you still love seeing every day?

A dear friend gave me a Teddy at DS1's funeral which I clung to as we hadnt got him a Teddy yet. I still cling to that Teddy.
Other than that, we have loads of photos of our boys, we have their Names in the Sand (we did that ourselves). We also have a couple of Willow figurines.

It's great you contacted them. So sad others didnt. It's not like you ever get over the loss of a child.

You sound like a wonderful SIL! I didn't get a lot of gifts as such but the things I bought myself that I treasure are a Willow figurine (angel of mine) and I also did the name in the sand and had it blown up and framed. I also bought a beautiful handmade ornament from etsy (?) - not sure if I am allowed to post the link so pm me if you would like it and I am happy to send it on. She does gorgeous figures of little angels and mums and dads with angels.
I love my teddy that I got from the hospital but you could get one with your nephews name personalised on it somewhere if they don't already have something like that?

Tashy - I really hoped they would, they all rushed up there for his funeral but ever since then no one talks about it and don't dare bring it up, its very sad.

I got lots of beautiful things. I got a locket with a mother baby on it with it engraved on the back, I got the twins initials to put on a chain and I got these little ornament things, they are shaped like an egg and when you open them up there is an angel ornament inside with a nice verse. I have also received over the years lovely candles with their names printed on them, ornaments of their initials with angels on them.. (go to my blog, you might see some pics of some things.) We did names in the sand ourselves too.

I also found out that there is somewhere in the UK that sells balloons shaped as angels and when you fill them with helium and release them they look like angels flying. They are environmentally friendly too. Another idea is to google memorial keepsakes or something to that effect and lots of places have memorial jewelry..

we got given a star in the name of DS when we lost him, it was a very special thought from a special friend and ill never thank her enough for it

To be honest think ANY gift is meaningful.. Just having people acknowledge your babies is meaningful.. I do like jewelry though, because for me, it's something that can be with me all the time. I don't wear the locket, but I have it hanging beside my bed. I do wear the gold initials though and I hardly ever take them off. (Only if I have to)

I'm definitely going to do the picture, they are beautiful and I think its something they would both really like.

Just searching etsy and the net for a nice angel to go with it.

We were given a beautiful hand made bear with Ellen's name on it's foot for her 1st B'day. When she was born friends of my husbands had a star named after her. We collect blue wren things so people often give us things with wrens on them. I too have been given lot of jewelery but I don't wear it often.

My sister bought me a gorgeous, hand carved ornament of a mum & a baby that together make a heart. It means so very much to me.

Just after Noah's 5th birthday - which was in Feb - my aunt gave my a tiny little angel ornament because she knows I collect angels for Noah. That meant the world to me because even though he has been gone 5 years, it is nice to know he is still remembered and in the hearts of others in my family.

Everything we received from BB members. It really showed how much these ladies care about me :grouphug:

The one I feel the most connection with is a teddy bear someone bought us with Ianto's name and birthday embroidered on its jumper. We use it as a stand-in for him in photos he should've been there for - our holiday to QLD last year (which was meant to be to introduce him to Scott's mum), Santa photos, etc. I took it to ultrasounds while I was pregnant with Amelia, and I'll cuddle it when I need a cry.
