With no fees - do they exist?
I'm wanting to open a few bank accounts to keep track of my finances a little better - even if they are only accessible online that would be fine.
Anyone have a good one they want to recommend?

NAB I saver is good and higher interest rate! Not sure about fees but I like fact I can only access online and I on line I can only transfer money from it to my main account not VISA so if I want to use some savings on visa means transfer to main then another transaction to visa so means it takes time and effort and less likely to use savings for visa as pain in bum lol (or laziness)
st gtreorge is what we use. No fees if your deposits are $2000 or more in a month which is pretty easy with just Dh's salary going in.
We have no problems with them, and have been with them for around 10 years now.
Depends on what you're looking for really.
I swear by my BankWest Zero account which is our everyday transaction account, needs a minimum of $2K deposited a month (so our pay), has no fees, free withdrawals from any of the "big 4" bank atms and unlimited eftpos. Plus it has a handy $100 overdraft for just in case and is a debit mastercard as well for online stuff. I think Commonwealth and ING do similar type accounts.
I found it does help to go into your bank and tell them exactly what you want and what you're looking to use it for and see what they recommend. Most will try to match you up to the best product for your needs and if you're not convinced, look elsewhere.
Hmm there wouldn't be that much going in there - definitely not 2 grand! I mainly need separate accounts for me and DH to have our spending money in cos it's too hard to keep track of it, sometimes we overspend lol
So I thought if I could get an extra 2 accounts, then if I wanted to buy something I know I wouldnt be blowing our budget. If that makes sense?
Unless you already have accounts with the NAB I wouldn't open an account with them.
We HATE the NAB, if we ever get out act together we'll be switching banks. We have been stuffed around by them time and time again, people rarely return calls and a whole host of other things.
While most of our issues with them probably wouldn't affect an every day account I can't recommend them based on our experience.
Most of the bigger banks have higher interest rate accounts that are online only access, they would be listed on their websites.
I have a UBank savings account set up for my savings. I have three accounts there - all for different things. At the moment they are for my Thailand Holiday, General Savings and one dubbed Project ***way - our account for baby savings! You can nickname all your accounts and they are 100% FEE FREE.
The only disadvantage (which I don't think is actually a disadvantage at all) is that they are 100% ONLINE meaning you can't go into a branch to deposit or withdrawl - it all has to be online. You also can't have a card on the account.
But I find this works great as it makes it difficult to access the money - which effectively means I can't spend it easily!!
Seeing as Ubank is owned by NAB - you can have instant transfers to a nominated NAB account. Otherwise it is usually overnight.
Hope that helps!
I love credit unions!!!!
I do pay $5 a month, but that is a total for all of my accounts. Total.. no extra for anything. I can check everything online- we have one account that has a card for each DH and I, and then a seperate savings account we cant access with a card (thats the account i transfer any derict debt money or bill money into). Thats just our set up though, you can have more accounts with or without cards if thats how you want it.
Also we can use any NAB or REDI atm for free. I can go into the bank, or i dont have to. No minumim deposit. And i have no idea on the interest rates coz frankly our cash is never in there long enough to even worry about it gaining any interest lol!!!
You should be able to find your local credit union easy enough. I am still with the same one i was in in VIC even though we have moved! I love them too coz they are generally more friendly than banks!! They know me by name!!!
I'm with a credit union and ING. we keep the credit union accounts for overseas holidays and Internet transactions as INGs overseas fees are a lot higher and as long as we keel a minimum balance of $500 in the credit union account we only pay a couple of $for fees.
We had ING savings maximizer from years ago as once upon a time they were the only place that offered high interest easy access to your savings but others have now followed suit I think. it is an Internet only account but $ transferred to another bank takes 24 hours.
We have now though opened up a couple of Everday ING accounts for the reasons you wanted. We pay no fees. As long as you withdraw more than $200 cash at a time (from any ATM) they'll refund you the ATM fee. If you get more than $200 cashout on eftpos they'll pay you 50c. It also means instant transfers between your savings account. This was really handy when we were planning and paying for our wedding as until we needed the cash, it was earning 5% interest or whatever the rate is now.
Downside is, you have to plan your cash out to either get more out or get sone out by eftpos (less than $200 won't cost you anything for eftpos). And they're set up more online so if you do lots of in the bank banking, might not be a goer.
Hope this helps!
