Inserting the EPO question...

When you start to insert the tablets, do you put them in whole or spilt it half and just put the oil up there??

I used to put them in whole... (the capsules kinda melt from your body heat...) - push them as far in as you can
I used to wear a liner bc there was sometimes some leakage (i did it at night)

Starangelk, my mid recommended, on the first day, insert two, ingest 1, then on the second night, insert 1, ingest 2, and so forth

I inserted two whole ones every night from 36 weeks :)

Well DH did cos I could reach lol

I have just been to my midwife who suggested piercing a hole in the tablet with a pin before inserting - have not tried myself yet but will soon - GL.

If u go that path megsy make sure the pin is sterile hun

Just curious - how much leakage happens with this and does the body absorb the whole lot by morning? Am i also correct in say the EPO just softens the cervix?

yeh its meant to help soften the cervix. TBH i never had any leakage. i always instered right before bed and pushed them up as far as i could get them to

MM - have you been doing this?? Just wondering if the outer shell of the EPO really does dissolve? I guess I have this fear I'll do it and then the Ob or someone will do an internal and I'll have some explaining to do......LOL.

The outer completely dissolves. There's no need to pierce it, your body's natural heat will dissolve it :) I inserted two, and took one orally. I didn't find the mess too bad at all, nothing a liner didn't fix.

Like the others said, just insert them (I waited til 38 weeks) at night and you should be fine, I didn't have any leakage either

Did anyone get thrush from this? I'm completely gluten, dairy, sugar and yeast free to prevent strep B this pregnancy (for other reasons as well) and had a thought that the EPO could have caused it? I'm sure it was the bad diet last pregnancy but thought maybe this could of contributed? Don't want to go through nipple thrush again! How many do ppl swallow? I've been swallowing 3 since 32wks and will start inserting end of this wk.
