Never imagined I'd be here!

Well, I have now been tandem feeding my girls for 6 months!

I never thought I'd tandem feed. I thought it wasn't for me. Ok, I admit, I thought it was a bit strange! lol.

But it works for us. It's not something you really decide to do one day. It's just something that happens and it feels totally normal. The girls are only 2 years apart and DD1 was still very much a baby to me when DD2 came along so it felt wrong to try and wean her. I think it has really helped with the transition to becoming a big sister for her. She still gets that comfort and one-on-one time with me and doesn't feel like she's left out of anything.

I can't believe how much DD1 still loves it, lol, she gets so excited when it's time for 'booby' at night. And as for DD2, well her rolls say it all :D

So just a little celebration that it has all gone smoothly for me! :loveshower: It is not difficult at all. In fact, it makes things much easier. A little bit of booby cures anything, lol.

I weaned dd when ds was 6 weeks... I had terrible nipple thrush which is STILL hanging around and I was in agony there for a few weeks...I just couldn't face feeding her and she was beautiful and kissed my boobs and said 'poor mummy'. She still asks 'how are your boobies going mummy', but hasn't asked for boobie since. It felt weird to go cold turkey after 2.5 years, but she was very generous and understanding.

I am glad I fed her as long as I did, but I am also at peace with the way it ended.

Good on you for keeping it up. It's a wonderful gift for both your girls!

As someone who might be there in a few months, it is lovely to hear that it is working for you. I am also just going with the flow. My DD is still young and enjoys BFing so i don't see a reason to stop.

That's really lovely, thanks for sharing :) ds is not 12 months yet but I can't see and end to the booby which is fine by me as I love it too, such an amazing bond :) I've often wondered if I'll end up tandem feeding, it's not something that I would choose but at the same time I can't see myself weaning ds until he's ready.

Ooo how did I miss this! Congratulations, such a beautiful achievement. Must admit I'm pretty terrified about potentially bein there myself soon and knowing you have been so successful definitely helps, especially when everyone seems to suggest I wean now before it is too 'cruel'... apparently sharing will break her heart but weaning before she is ready won't? Anyway, definitely inspirational, hope your breastfeeding relationships continue smoothly :)
