What would you do?
Would you prefer to join a playgroup that has just started up or a more established one?
I've been taking Moo to a new playgroup the last few weeks. Trouble is because it has only just started up there is hardly any toys or activities, they don't have any tables suitable for toddlers so we're using big tables instead and the lady running it has never had a playgroup before. I believe things will pick up but not without a lot of help from members.
I'm thinking of going to a different playgroup in the area that has been running for years instead. It has an established routine and lots of things for the kids to do. But I feel bad!
WWYD?

Depends what I wanted out of it - we joined a playgroup when I was pg with DD2 and it was not really what I wanted as I ended up with more responsibility than I wanted at the time. I really needed somewhere for #1 to go and play with other kids but in the end I was facilitating and organising more than the other group members which made it a drag. It was an unusual group of people tho.
Why do you feel bad? If it is not working for you then best to explore other options or if you are happy to get involved then perhaps you can discuss with the leader about how that may help you/the group.

Mak I don't know why I feel bad  I think it's just my nature. In regards to what I want out of a playgroup, I guess just somewhere for Moo to interact, which he's getting. I don't think I'm looking for something that needs me to be as involved as this is turning out to be though, as you said.

An established one. I am not good at introducing myself / socialising with people I don't know, so for my DD to be able to have activities and toys to play with helps me feel at ease and slowly get to know people/ I actually joined our pg with my mothers group, but it is a very established pg.

Cm - i get the feeling bad thing! Perhaps go and check out the other group if you haven''t already before you decide? May be a case of the grass is greener lol?? Good luck!

as someone who actually goes to playgroup for me I'd go to the established one ^^; I want to go and for DS to have a good time without me being the main source of entertainment once a week, so I can sit back and have a grown up cuppa and a chat while keeping an eye on him and not being his play buddy.

Can you go to both? Help out with the one that needs help, and then go to the established one to get what you need out of playgroup!
Just an idea :dunno:
