I'm no expert, but I thought that any sort of anti-inflamatory (gel or tablet) was advised against in pregnancy. I think the Royal Children's hospital might have a hotline, that I've seen mentioned here, but can't find on google.
If it was me I would probably ask your pharmacist (who will be overly cautious) or give your GP/caregiver a call.
I'm pretty sure anti-inflammatories are a no no inpregnancy.
Try Rodney Whyte at MMC, 9594 2361.
I use to be on prescribed voltaren but was told not to take it at all while pregnant. That included any form of it.
I wanted to get some voltaren gel at 33 weeks (I was off to have DD in 2 days!) and they still wouldn't give me any.
I was told (in early pregnancy) that nothing anti-inflammatory could be taken.
Try that nurses on call number ( think its 1800 or 1300 606024) - I am certain voltaren is a big NO during pregnancy though.
I was told no for nurofen gel so would imagine voltaren would be the same.
Have you tried Arnica oil? Lame alternative but possibly better than nothing.
Hoti, I take prescription anti-inflammatories. I spoke to my pharmacist about it a while ago (gathering info for when I TTC) and she said that it is a no no (including my current prescription) and that neurofen would be the safer option if I really had to take something.
I use a gel called fysiocream which is suppose to be safe during PG.

I think you might find that all NSAIDS are not recommended at any stage during pregnancy. Really only stuck with panadol and a coupleof other things.
ta everyone.
MG, i looked up fysiocream and the info said that it was ok to use during pregnancy & breastfeeding. do you find it any good? is it hard to find? i am heading to coburg tomorrow so will check out chemists around there.
Yeah, I do actually. I've come of my oral anti-inflammatories and am able to cope on that alone (well, with my other meds). I love it. I even have DH using it.
There are a couple of girls at work with long term injuries who all swear by this and something called ICE which is available in the medical area of the supermarket. I've never tried the ICE stuff because I know the fysiocream works for me and I like to stick to what I know works IYKWIM.
I've only ever seen it at my physio's - you could ring around your local physio's and see if they stock it. I'm actually going to my physio tomorrow and am happy to pick some up and post it to you (just PM me if you'd like me to). The price of the fysiocream is $15 for the "small" tube (around the size of Vasoline hand cream tube) and the bigger one (HUGE) is $45. The ICE stuff is much less but I can't recall the exact price and don't know if it is safe during pregnancy.
HTH.
