Advice on OPKs...
Looking for some advice on OPKs... I bought a pack of 7 from the chemist the other day... and I'm sure I O'ed today... I tested, tonight, but negative.
Are they as reliable/accurate as HPTs??
I'm confused - I'm sure I O'ed... Why would the test be neg?

I found the exxy ones to be great. The eBay cheapies not so much. I have an unused maybe baby floating around if u would like it.

How do I define it they were cheapies or not? I've never bought them before... I bought 7 plus bonus HPT for somewhere around $10-&15?
Are you serious Skybie? I've never used one before - that would be awesome, if you don't have someone else who might use it?

I've used OPKs. From memory, the way they work is by detecting your LH surge (luteal hormones). Aparently you have a surge of these hormones between 12 and 48hrs before you O. I would test from about cd5 with the OPKs, until I got a strong positive, and would keep testing until it turned neg again. Usually I'd get 2-3 positives in a row. As soon as I saw the first + we'd start DTD, and keep it up for a couple of days after the OPKs were - again.
Sure enough I got pg our 2nd month trying, so for me, they worked really well.
If you felt your O pain today though, it's probably too late to detect the surge, hence the - test. But I'd still DTD anyway for good measure. An ovum will survive for 12-24hrs after being released. Hope that was helpful! Good luck :)

Ahhhhh so the surge might have happened yesterday or last night? If I felt the pain around 11am?
Right. Ok then. Lucky we DTD last night... Better get busy tonight too!!
Thanks forshelby, that was really helpful.

Sometimes the surge is very quick too. It may happen in the morning and be gone by the night so you could have missed it. Just keep BD!! :)
