I'm curious about this groin pain i'm enduring atm... it is really annoying and can be quite painful at times. It's not in my hips or pelvis, well i don't think so anyway. Although first thing in the morning i am quite stiff when i first get up but it eases pretty quick.
I'd get checked out for spd.
Oh ****e i was hoping someone wasn't going to jump in and say it could be that.
It's only just started not horrifically bad or anything in the last week on and off, some days if i'm taking it easy it isn't even sore. But i have been painting and doing alot of work around the house... the nesting has kicked in early.
I'm not saying it is that :hug: Just that if it is, best to get it worked on early so it doesn't turn really bad as your pregnancy gets towards the end stages.
I found mine worse on the days I was doing too much, and just to roll over in bed of a night time was horrific. So if it is that, you have my greatest sympathies!!
Oh yes the rolling over in bed is a shocker.
So do i speak to my hospital midwives about the pain? Not due for a antinatal visit for another 2 weeks so i could just ring them and ask there advise.
Most midwives don't have a clue on how to handle it - I'd go to your GP and get a referral to a physio or a chiro.
Is it like on your pubic bone? Does it hurt if you step sideways?
Or is it like a burning pain down the inside of your leg?? I had both of those.
I thought everyone got spd during pregnancy? From the relaxins making the muscles and tendons in the area go all floppy?
I have it. Right now I'm curled up on the lounge with a pillow between my legs because I tried flipping a trolley up a curb while shopping today and hurt it quite bad :(
Most people get a bit sore, but not everyone gets SPD which is much worse.

I had spd from 11 weeks. Wasn't picked up until 35 weeks. Was in agony the whole time :(
Totally agree with mrs nerd burger, midwives are clueless when it comes to spd. I was complaining about it the whole time and they kept saying it was pressure.
Mine was quite severe tho, i felt it all the time no matter what i was doing and I still have it, only at a lesser degree.
The belt the physio gives you helps alot tho :)

It's annoying me in the groin area and last night i noticed around the tops of my legs were a bit sore as well. It's not across the top of the pubic bone or anything. I had Bowen Therapy done a couple of years ago and wondering if that would bring me back into alignment better!? The thing that i'm more worried about does it hinder the way you labour and birth?
No not at all.
I personally think if anything it 'might' help in some ways. Your pelvis has to separate in order to birth, so it would make sense that it's already separated a bit iykwim? That's just my opinion of course :)
Head to the physio. And any other therapies you enjoy :)

Bit of an update. I've tried to stay as upright and posture friendly over the last couple of days and left all the house chores that require me getting down to low to either DH or DS1 and have noticed a remarkable difference in the pain level.

I found the hardest times were in bed. And when first standing up and the first few steps. Now I just feel it in bed.
Bit of an update.
Been in to see Physio and have been give one of those sexy preggo belts :D I'm mainly finding it really hard at night when all i do is toss and turn but it's really painful to roll over - can't win. Also those first steps in the morning for a minute of two is really painful too.
All i did was whinge when pregnancy with DS2 cos i found it annoying getting up for the loo through the night and what i would give now to just be painfree in going to the loo in the night.
WMM i was also told that the relaxin hormone can take up to 8 months to get out of the body so maybe that's why you are still getting pain in bed!?
only just saw this thread now! glad you are seeing your physio hun. I had the same as you couldn't get comfy in bed pain on getting up in the mornings etc and yeah I ended up with one of those belts too. didn't really help me tho!:lol: I hope it gets better and if not maybe also add in seeing an Osteo. I did and she helped more than my physio!:
eta: and yep relaxin can remain in the body several months after birth. my dd2 is 7 months and I only started feeling pain free last month!!
