Do you always clean up?

I know there are heaps of clean freaks on BB but I'd like to hear from all those who are brave enough to come out of their maybe unclean closet? I'd like to know that I'm not alone! Since having DS I find myself more and more NOT cleaning up thinking that the house is just going to look like a WWIII bomb site again in the very near future :redface: I have a mental issue with clutter and mess and when it gets too much my head explodes and I can't deal with it, does anyone else have this problem? I have minimal possessions and my house is pretty basic as in not to much 'stuff' everywhere and the mess drives me insane to the point where I can't do anything about it...... I know I'm weird right?!?

Not weird, when I move house it renders me completely useless and I just don't function. The kids lounge I do once a week because it's a pointless excersize really drives me nuts but I know the second I clean it and admire my awesomely clean space, the hurricanes will rip through it making it look like ive done nudda

Oh yeah it's easy to get overwhelmed by it all. I have a hard time functioning when it all gets out of hand too. For me it's about the organisation of stuff, if everything is where you might reasonably expect it to be, then all good. But as soon as I have to go hunting in illogical places (due to things migrating around or because DH or DD have put them "away" in an irrational place) I lose it. I seem to be the only person in the house who has a deep-seated need for organisation *sigh*.

Marydean that reminds me.... Where the heck is our tv remote??? :wall: ds has hidden it somewhere and I haven't even been bothered to look for it lol

Yep! I become a bit scattered. I function a bit better if I'm not tripping over stuff all the time.

*hands up I am definitely someone who struggles with the housework. I won't go into detail but suffice to say that there is a reason my vacumm has lasted 10+ years :redface:

I'll come clean too (dad joke alert).

DH does 80-90% of the housework :redface: he's a neat-freak and can't relax unless everything is in its place. I'm pretty untidy - he picks up after me.

That said, I do the cooking and the "big" cleans. So I guess it's kinda even??

Weirdly, I'm very organised at work and can't get clear headspace unless my desk is spotless, filing is done etc. As soon as I get home, it all goes to hell in a handbasket. A handbasket that my DH sorts out of course ;)

I find it really hard to function in a messy house and then get overwhelmed by the mess and need DH's help to clean it up.

I have a theory about it though. When I feel like I am on top of everything, my house looks pretty good and I feel like I can stay on top of my house work. I get things done as they need to be done and feel in control. The mess in my house is like an outworking of my inner emotions - a physical symbol of how I am feeling. If I feel busy and out of control, my house tends to reflect that. It usually takes a day of very deliberate effort by both DH and I (one of us looking after the kids) to catch up with the housework and help me feel like I can manage again.

I hope that makes sense.

I am the biggest anti-clean freak in the world. I don't care there's a bit of clutter, but DH is more of the clean freak than me

I hate my house and my forever mess, I never ever invite anyone over. I clean to maintain a healthy standard of living, making sure the house is never overrun with filth and ****roaches, but there is always stuff lying around. Every inch of storage space is currently full and there are things I don't know where to put.

It's not like I'm a hoarder, I'm forever throwing stuff out we just have a small, badly designed, disorganized house. My daughter doesn't even have a bedroom.

I'm looking around my bedroom right now feeling miserable.

im very clean in the house buttttttt my cupboards/wardrobes are terrible - i just throw things in there, i have never managed to keep a wardrobe or cupboard clean.. drives dh mental :lol:

I try to keep on top of things but yes another messy house person here. For me its the dust. Dust is the bain of my exisitance. My home is forever dusty and I cannot be bothered with trying to keep up with it. Not because I am lazy, not because it would take me 2-3 weekends of good hard work to do all the timber ... BUT because we live in a very old, all timber, farm house. The dirt and crap is continually blowing in from the outside and gets in through all th esmall holes you don't notice are there.

I do try to keep the living room and the bedrooms reasonably clean but somedays I just cannot do it. and like Just me says it is often a reflection of how I am feeling. If I am flat out or having an "I cannot be F'd" day then these spaces really reflect that.
