Well, SIL pulled out the other week (due to MIL being a bit of a mole, and therefore SIL being a mole).
So, I've got my sister as my bridemaid. I don't want to 'replace' SIL. I'm happy to just have my sister.
Then the groomsmen are our best mate and DP's best friend.
How's it going to work?
Just make the groomsmen walk down the aisle with my sister in between?
Any ideas?
Absolutely can do that.
Or as I did, with even numbers, have the groomsmen already at the altar with the groom.
Then have your sister walk down unescorted before you.
Charlotte I think what Emma suggested was awesome :) I would have the groomsmen up the front and have your sister walk down unescorted. So exciting, it's this month!!! What date? I'm sorry I have pretty brain and can't remember!!! Xxxx
At our wedding we had 5 groomsmen and 3 bridesmaids. It worked just fine for us. But I hate dancing so there was no dancing and no need for anyone to be “partnered”.
ETA: Oh yes, the groomsmen usually wait at the front with the groom. And we had an outdoor wedding so everyone kind of just dispersed after the ceremony so no need for partners there either.
The men are always waiting down the front aren't they?? I'm going to presume you meant on the way out after you've been married when typically everyone partners up?
Yes one either side and bridesmaid in the middle, or even just in a line...the maried couple, bridesmaid and so on.
We had 2 bridesmaids and just the best man at our wedding, the guys were waiting at the front for us.
When we were presented at the reception, my second bridesmaid walked in with our flowergirl (DD1).
But you can have them un-partnered, I don't think it makes much of a difference TBH.
I was the only bridesmaid with two groomsmen when my cousin got married and it was fine. I walked back down the aisle with one on each side. During the bridal waltz, we each danced with our own parters and not other members of the bridal party. I preferred this so much anyway. The photographer was also really great and positioned us well so all the photos still looked really well balanced. It is not that difficult to do at all. I'm sure it will be fine!
ETA: Walking into the reception, we walked in together, I just had one GM on each side.
I've only ever seen the groom and groomsmen waiting at the front, and just the bridesmaid/s come down, then the bride (alone or being walked down by someone).
Coming into the reception, just go one at a time, or all three together (boy girl boy).
With dancing, if you want photos of the couples dancing you can organise for a female family member to come in to pair with the other groomsman, and then swap so you have pics of the bridesmaid dancing with both.
Don't stress about it.
Once you're there, no one will be paying attention to them anyway ;)
We had six bridesmaids and two groomsmen. Ours was a fairly relaxed wedding and we had all the partners of the bridal party sitting at the bridal table with us (big U shape) so no-one had to be partnered up with someone else while their real partners watched on from another table etc. It made the reception/dancing more enjoyable for everyone I think.

My sister had 2 flowers girls and 2 page boys, and one flowergirl pulled out at the last second (she was only 3) so the page boys just walked down the aisle with the flower girl in the middle. It was very cute.
It's on the 18th.... I'm getting pretty nervous.
There's no dancing. DP and I can't dance, neither can the wedding party. The main photographers are FIL and my sister (between them and their partners we should be right for photos) so they'll be fine in working out how to set people up.
