Sick + conceiving?
So today is O day, and we dtd yesterday morning,
But today I am full of cold - bah blah! And just wondering, if you are sick does your immune system get all revved up and as a consequence is more likely to attack sperm and possible blastocysts etc? Am I less likely to get utd on a cycle where I am sick??
Not trying to depress myself or anything!!! Just wondering...

Our whole family has been sick off and on for about a month... and here I am, UTD! :D
So I'd have to say no. For me.
But maybe if your body is expending all its energy on getting better there might be an affect on successful conception? Like when a woman is stressed/starved/whatever, I'm talking EXTREME situations, they can basically stop ovulating until their body can handle carrying a child? Maybe?
Who knows. Someone with an actual medical background might be able to offer some insights!
But as I said: didn't hamper me!
ETA: GL catching the egg...

We fell pregnant with surprise DS while my DH has glandular fever... he could barely get out of bed, but he had super healthy sperm =/

I guess being sick has hampered me this month in that I didn't dtd on O day hahahaha!
And I know there must be a mechanism so that the body doesn't get an immune response to sperm etc under normal circumstances... just wondered if my immune system be fired up with mess with that...??
OceanPrincess - good to know you got utd while under the weather. Congrats on your preg!!!
dragoncookie - haha, I guess having glandular fever your dh just lay there and you had to do all the work!!!!! ;P

When we were going through the IVF cycle that led to DD I got severe food poisoning. I was so sick on the day of embryo transplant that I was literally having to be held on the table because the shakes were so bad. I was having fevers and everything but we only had two embryos and doc didn't want to wait/waste them so we implanted one anyway. Couldn't believe it when we got pregnant. So I would say no- womens bodies can be incredibly resilient things! And My dd continues to be a little fighter!
