Carers payment..
Is it tax deductible?
I have just noticed that there is this on my account (which it was applied for) but I haven't received any letters for yet. But I also noticed my FTB payments is less then what it was. But when you add back the amount that the carers payment is, it works out no less / no more..
BUT is it a payment I need to pay tax on? Not sure if this is going to work in our benefit or not?

I would think so ;/

are we talking carer PAYMENT (as in the income support payment) or carer ALLOWANCE (as in the 110 per fn per caree?)
carer payment is counted as income for ftb, and may reduce your entitlement
carer allowance is not counted
the amount of carer payment (if thats the payment you receive) should be significantly more than any related drop in ftb

what BG said - something to consider also is that while Carer PAYMENT (the pension) is counted as income for FTB purposes, it is a tax free payment.

FJ and I chatted on FB - helped her negotiate through her c'link online account - when they grated her carer payment, they put her estimated income as if she was getting full rate carer pension, instead of the amount she was actually getting - which is why her ftb dropped so much! i've explained to her how to work out her estimate and change it if she wants, or she can leave as is, and get the top up at end of financial year

If it's the carers allowance then no you don't have to pay tax. It's like FTB. Also it shouldn't have affected your FTB. I get the allowance for 2 kids and my FTB is the same rate as always.
PS should have read the rest of the posts lol BG always answers these :)
