Medication and vomitting-do you give repeat dose?
My 17 month old DD is sick, high temps, miserable, hardly eating, sleeping lots, clingy. We have just been watching her, keeping fluids up (breastmilk, water), cooling her down. Her temp got to 39*C yesterday so we gave her nurofen, this brought temp down. Box says it can be given every 6 - 8 hours. She had 3 doses over 24 hours then i gave her more this morning (10am). She was drinking water but didn't want to get out of bed . i was starting to get worried so i got her up (despite protests) and was making her some breakfast while holding her. She then did big vomits and i think vomitted all the nurofen up. this was about 10 mins after she had the nurofen.
We had a shower together and she cooled down more (to the touch). She was a bit brighter and ate 1/2 piece of toast. Since then she just sleeps, cries upon waking and might drink. She has just had small breastfeed and asleep again on my lap.
Her temp (to touch) is increasing again. Haven't checked with thermometer again yet. Would you give nurofen again (assuming that she had vomitted last lot) or wait til 6 hours is up?
I have a bag packed and still considering taking her up to local hospital, but each time i decide i will she picks up a little bit.
