I'm talking about vacuums. Is it worth spending big bucks on a fancy shmancy one?
I spent $130 on our last one about 4 years ago. We've reparied the hose thingy at least 5-6 times, and now the catch on the lid (housing the bag) is bust. It worked ok for us - mostly hard floors.

We went to top end and bought a Kirby and it.is.awesome!!!!! Amazing what is sucks out of the carpet, beds, drapes etc. Actually, maybe gross is a better word than amazing :rofl:
Anyway, I have heard awesome things about Dysons, Electrolux and one other also. Definitely worth spending money on a good one :)
I would LOVE an expensive vacuum cleaner!
My parents had a Miele for years. It kept going and going and going (and that was with five kids running around). Not sure if they are a still a good brand for vacuums though??
Personally, I drool everytime I see a Dyson ad. Sick, I know!

I do like my electrolux. Has very good suckage ;)
DS was eying of an upright dyson when we were in harvey norman the other day. He wants the one that stands up or the funny looking one (not sure which one that was)
I love my dyson hand held vacuum so much, I would love a big dyson.

OMG, we had a demo from the Kirby guys. All was going well until he told us the price!!! About $3,000 I recall. Bloody great vacuum though!:
Dyson Dyson Dyson Upright love it.
We bought a Meile upright last year and it's fantastic - the power head thingy on it is amazing. It's really flexible too and has several attachments. To me the Dyson's felt a bit rattly/plastic whereas this one felt really solid, but Dyson does get a fantastic review round BB!

We have a dyson (not the upright) and i love it.
I vac'd with our old vac then went over it with the dyson and i nearly vomited at the site of what the old vac was leaving in the carpet.
I never thought it was worth it buying an expensive vac but so glad we did.
I want a Dyson.
I mean, if you had seen my in-laws place this would be easier to understand.
BUT, when we were living up there, when I was feeling bored, or particularly nice/generous/helpful (not sure which) I would clean the place up a bit.
Now, the crap on the floors, i think most people would look at it and tell you to just rip up the carpet.
Dyson = amazing.
I mean, if I was ever going to live there, I would rip up the carpet anyway, but their Dyson did wonders.
I have a miele and love it. It was $700 and it is really sturdy and powerful. I haven't had any issues with it either and I bought it about 4 years ago.
I like the idea of a dyson, but tbh, I prefer disposable bags...emptying bag less vacuums is a pain in the butt.
my mother was shamed into buying a kirby years ago after they showed her what it sucked up. It was soooo heavy. Not practical at all.
I was a DYson diehard until I tried the new Electrolux. Half the price, better and adjustable suck, easier to empty and clean. Attachments are less bulky. Has a power head too.
Just got an email from eBay saying they have a special offer on dyson allergy vacuums...not the upright one...for $659.
