Just wondering.
I know plenty of people have acupuncture for TTC, but has anyone done it to prevent miscarriage? Any stories to tell?
TIA

I'm using it to try to produce a healthy bub, once my hormones are settled.
I dont know if I'd use it to prevent a miscarriage. For me, if there's something wrong with bub, I'd prefer to miscarry ITMS. If there's other issues causing miscarriage - ie, clotting problems or whatever, then I'd talk to your acupuncturist about if it can help.
I can recommend one in Bayside Melb.
Thanks, Tashy. I know of a good one locally here. I have fibroids, which have shrunk to a size that makes them not worth operating on, but I wonder if they're why I've had two m/c and acupuncture may overcome that.
It wouldn't hurt to give it a go. I go weekly and it's definately making a difference.
You'd probably want to work on the fibroids before TTC though. Not that I'm an expert at all
Yeah, the people I know that are having it love it. One has it for TTC and has noticed changes.
The fibroids, well at this point, I'm stuck with them, unless the acupuncturist can do something about them. I have two left, one is calcified though, and the other has shrunk. I went to get them surgically removed, but was told that it wasn't worth it, they were so small now and it would weaken my uterine wall. When I was pg with DD, I had five of them. I'm probably looking at them as a reason for miscarrying, when it's something totally different. Easy to blame what I know is there, ITMS.
Thanks again, Tashybabe. Glad the acupuncture is making a difference for you
i had A/C when we were ttc DS. once i was PG i went back for another session & the A/C said that at that stage she would do general relaxing A/C & one needle to help try & prevent m/c (well, i'm pretty sure she said something about making sure baby was secure) & not prescribe any TCM - i think she said that they like to leave things as they are & let the body do its job - unless i'd had a history of m/c in which case i'm pretty sure she said she could do some a/c or prescribe some TCM to help.
my memory is a little vague about it now but i'd say it would be worth talking to someone at the very least - could you try posting in the ask an expert section & see if chris tang has any advice/suggestions?
Thanks, Sloane. I didn't even think about the expert section. And I'm going to talk to the a/c that I'd go to as well.
my acupuncturist gave me TCM herb called 'fetus safety blend' or something, that I took in tww which was supposed to help baby stick, once I got pregnant I think i stopped them after 5 wks cos I got a bit nervous ( had googled the ingredients but wasn't 100% sure so stopped). I did one session when I was pregnant then she was happy to only see me at 12wks, my feeling is that they can sort out cycle irregularities etc getting in the way of ttc but most miscarriages are inevitable.
It really is good for stress relief though so I would still give it a try, and my acupuncturist is so nice and caring that she is one of the poeple I rely on the most when I am going through ivf ( the poor woman lol).
i did Acu. when pregnant with DS for back pain, it works a treat. I saw her again right after my ectopic surgury for some recovery sessions, she gave me a horrid tea and tablets for TTC.... I fell again the very next month.
I totally believe that its worth a try, if you feel your body was the concern with your MC, but im like Tashy i dont think it would help or be a good thing to prevent a MC if the concern \was the baby...
Thanks girls, I'm going to go and talk to him. I don't think it's the baby, I think it's me. The fibroids can't be removed at this point. I have insanely heavy periods due to the fibroids (nasty buggers!!!!!). My cycle is like clockwork, I ovulate at the same time each cycle and it seems we can fall pg easy enough, so it's not TTC acupuncture that I need. I wish our tummies were glass so we could see what was going on in there!
