Ideas to solve a fear of toilets outside the home?
DD is basically toilet trained, but will not use a toilet outside home. At home she was mainly using potty but has used the big toilet (with a seat) for the last week. She sat on a little toilet in a shopping center change room once and that was fine, but now she just says she is scared of other toilets - including the little one at daycare, the one at playgroup which has a little seat etc. This morning at daycare I took her to toilet, her doll went first and then I said it was her turn and she happily sat on it (didn't do anything as had just been at home) but when picked her up she had refused to sit on it again saying it is too big (is smaller than ours at home). So at daycare she is in nappies (they don't have a potty), and when we go out she is in pullups - often she will wait till we are home to go but depends how long we are out, if she can't wait she will tell us and then wee in her pull ups. Poo's she always seem to wait to be at home. Overnight she is dry 6 out of 7 nights and goes as soon as she is up in the morning.
Do I just need to wait it out? Should I take her out of pull ups and just in knickers when we are out and put up with the accidents?
I don't think any other children in her room at daycare are using the toilet yet, or am sure she would be keen to copy them (she is 27 months old), daycare suggested the tactic we tried this morning and will also ask them for further ideas.
