I had always worse them crimped side up, and they always would fall out of my hair, unless I was using them to hold in a bun etc. But last night as I was getting ready to go to a wedding, I thought I might have a go doing it the other way round (As I had recently seen a pin on pinterest) and what do you know... they stayed in and I got compliments on my hair! They worked as well as any other clips!
Who knew? All this time... I could have been doing it wrong...
I've always had crimped side up...maybe down is the way to go? I'll have to give it a go.
Mmmm, I always had them crimped side down. When I had long hair I was a big one for putting my hair up in a bun and it stayed up really well, so when I didn't have it up in a bun and just back I used the crimped side down as well.
I always have crimped side up too. I'll have to try swapping and see what happens.
Wow, I hadn't even considered... Doesn't the bit that sticks out on the end of the crimped side stick into your head though? (I guess it doesn't matter if it's still got the plastic on the end?)
It didn't stick in my head at all. I couldn't even feel it. And it kind of made my hair look better. Can't explain it... you gotta try it!

So funny- I had a friend over today and I noticed she had her bobby pins in crimped side down... I've always done crimp side up and never had a problem. I buy the $15 container from hairdressing supply shops
I always used them crimped side up until I saw that pin on Pinterest. Mine would always fall out too until I tried the "right" way and haven't had any dramas!!
Huh. Learn something new every day. I always wear it crimp side up. I don't even have any to try!
But so many decorated bobby pins have the decoration on the crimp side...
I've always done crimped side up and they have stayed in place, but I also always use 2 pins at 90degree angles so maybe that's why it works for me? Willing to give crimped side down a try to see if it looks better though :D

Never in my life have I ever known anyone to put them crimped side up!
I thought the point to the bobby pin was to be 'unseen' in the grand scheme of the hair-do? So I always match my pins to my hair colour, and place them smooth side up in a concealed position.
