Did I do the right thing? keeping DS at home today

So, at some point in the early hours of the morning, DS was sick. Have no idea when as he didn't cry or anything (and feeld pretty guilty about that).
DH reckons he must have stuck his fingers down his throat and that made him vomit (he's been known to do it before). But I wasn't happy about him going to cc just in case it was a bug, and I'm pretty sure that there must be somethnig in the policy in regards to that. So i made DH stay at home today (it was my last day of my contract,so had stuff to give back, organise, etc). DH is making me feel guilty as he thinks DS is ok and should be at childcare.

Did I do the right thing or not?

Definitely did the right thing. They shouldn't go if they have vomited or had diarrhoea and he didn't see him put his fingers in his throat.

i know when my kids were in CC they asked for kids not to return for 48 hours after vomitting

Yep!! i wish the mums at my kinder were more like u and kept their kids home instead of sending their spew burgers to kinder and passing on their dirty germs!!
i keep DD1 home when she's sick, even if its the start of a cold, nothing worse than being away from home when u feel like rubbish.
Hope it was just a matter of him putting his fingers down his throat and its not a bug xxx

I'm with you on this one. i'd of kept my DD home if that had of happened (and funnily enough my DH would of been snotty about it too and would say that i was over reacting!).

Yep, you definately did the right thing! As a childcare worker, most centres I have worked in have 24hr policies for things like diarrhoea, vomiting and fevers.
As a mum, you followed your instincts and seriously, that can't be wrong, right?

Yep I think you did the right thing and sometimes I wish the parents at the centre could be more like you.... I know everyone has to work but to often than not they will bring them in, not tell us that they have been sick during the night then we find its a few hours later we are calling them anyway to come and pick them up as they have been sick at care. It is also in our policy that they can not return for 24 hours from the last time they vomited.

Well, DS was fine for the rest of the day, although not much appetite...until 5pm and then he threw up again. Oddest bug I've heard of, so maybe something was just not sitting right in his stomach :dunno:

:redface: TBH, over winter I have taken him with a cough or cold, but we were at the doctors almost every week or 2, and the doc's kept giving him the all clear.

Absolutely! Our policy is 24 hours after the last vomit or runny poo....alot of parents don't respect that and while we can enforce it if the vomit or poo has occurred in the centre, alot of the time people hide the at home ones.
Sometimes the child gives them away, but of course there's nothing we can do about that......

But parents like you are wonderful!!

I think you know as a mum what is right & wrong - and obviously from your DS being ill again, he was not well & so it was a good thing he stayed home. In relation to other things - I send my DD with a cough - it is asthma, nothing else.... if she has had a terrible night sleepihg & coughing, then I know it is something else and it is best she stays home. I hope your son is ok
